She looked out the window again, sighing and dreading Dark Arts. Elizabeth knew that since she was a fourth year, so she wouldn't have to do the terrible things she heard the older kids were doing. Still, the next class couldn't be fun.

Marie realized what Carrow was doing, and it seemed like Rey did too. She saw him a little tense, not angry tense but tense. She wanted to give him some luck, but knew he didnt need it. He would be perfectly fine.

(Okay then. I’m on my phone, so I’m going to take a shower and switch to my laptop after this post.)
Rey’s name was called once again, and upon hearing it, he stayed put. Professor Carrow repeated his name.
“No. I’ll take a failing grade instead.”
It was clear that no matter how much he was pushed, Rey was going to stand his ground.
"no no no Rey what are you doing?" she thought. she wanted to run over and slap him. "you just screwed yourself" she heard from another students mutter from behind her.

Amycus Carrow walked up to his desk. "What was that, Mr. MacAlister?"
"I'll take a failing grade. This isn't a real class, so what does it matter?"
He looked his professor straight in the eye with a hard gaze of defiance.
"Detention, MacAlister."
"I won't show up. You're not a real Hogwarts professor, therefore you cannot give me detention."
"Twenty points from Slytherin," he said, flicking his wand, "Crucio!"
Next thing Rey knew, he was on the floor, in terrible pain.
(On gosh, I thought this one had disappeared!)

Marie stood up and ran to Reys side, not recalling what to do in her state of panic.
"Youre a terrible professor Carrow"
"You both can have detention then" Carrow said, then started down the list of names again, the list of now terrified students. Marie started crying as another student ran to Reys aid once Marie fell back into her emotional state.

Rey knew that now was a good time to get up and run, while everyone would probably be too surprised to stop him. He had intentionally exaggerated his pain a bit so that Carrow would not try to attack him while he was down. Rey got up and dashed out, hoping no one noticed before he got to the door.
Marie stopped crying when she saw Rey make a mad dash for the door and followed suit, wiping her tear streaked face as she went.

Rey stopped in the corridor before he saw Marie. He sank down to the floor, just sitting and staring at the opposite wall.
“Oh god, I can’t believe I did that…”
He was both horrified and proud that he was able to stand up for himself.
Marie was out of breath and put her hand on the wall above Rey, leaning over him.
"Youre an idiot, but ill be damned if i dont congradulate you on how i very much admired that performance" she said still panting, "ignore my out of shape panting"
group
“Why, thank you,” Rey responded. He stopped for a moment to think and continued, “I’m getting out of here, just in case he decides to come after me.”
"You're ever so welcome" She said, finally grasping regular breathing. "Where to? and no more running unless its needed"
group
“We can probably get away with going to the hospital wing, unless you have another idea,” he answered, “I can at least tell Madam Pomfrey what’s happening in that classroom. Not that she can do anything, but I know she’s on our side.”
"well youre the one who ran out first, you get to make the calls. im just here because you needed someone to be smart. coming after you seemed smarter than letting you go it alone. But what else are friends for" she said pointedly
group
"Well, thanks for that," Rey sighed. He was panting a little, still feeling the remnants of the pain Professor Carrow had inflicted upon him. "Let's go, then. If anyone gives us any trouble, we'll play it off as me being more hurt than I actually am."
"Alight just stay close, itll be more believable if im close just incase you 'fall' " she said, holding out a hand to help him up off the floor
group
"Of course," Rey replied. He stood up with her help and began walking close to Marie.
Marie usually pulled away from people when they got close, usually Crabbe being the creep that he is, but she felt comfortable next to Rey. She knew he wouldnt hurt her, and for the sake of not getting caught she didnt think it would be smart to pull away. "I still think you're an idiot" she added as they walked.
group
"Sometimes a moment of bravery will make you look like an idiot. Just look at Gryffindor. Only kidding, though. Gryffindors are brilliant in their own right." Rey let out a sigh before continuing. "Look, I could never bow down to what he wanted. I am not going to learn a spell so vile. Stupid as I seem, I know I'm right. If I am going to learn a curse for killing, I am going to learn it on my own terms, and to fight Death Eaters, not from a Death Eater who wants us to learn to kill innocents."
"fair enough. youre new nickname will be stupid idiot from now on by the way" she said with a soft laugh
group
"Rey's a lot less of a mouthful," he replied with a smile. He continued up the steps and down the hospital wing's corridor and both young wizards had made it there without too much trouble.
"too bad. i could think of worse things to have in my mouth" she said and shook a little with the thoughts coursing through her brain now.

Rey saw Madam Pomfrey across the room and explained his situation. She agreed to let him spend the rest of the period in the hospital wing, and she said that Marie could stay too, if she wanted.
"Madam, I was actually wondering if… if I can manage to get out of Dark Arts, if I could come and help you out during the period instead."
She sighed, "Dear, I would allow you, but I seriously doubt you will be able to get out of such a class, even in your circumstances."
Rey's blood ran cold. "You don't think so? What if I stop showing up? No one will punish me right? He'll just fail me."
Madam Pomfrey shook her head. "No way to know for sure without trying it, but you need not push boundaries so far. I'm worried for you."
"I can't do it…" he whispered, "I'm too kind and gentle for dark arts."
"Sorry, dear."
Rey walked back to Marie. "So, we're safe here, at least for now."
"Okay" she said. She could see Reys pain in his face and did the only thing she could think to do. She wrapped him up in a hug and didnt let go for a while.

"Oh…" Rey murmured. He smiled upon receiving a hug from his fellow Slytherin. It was nice and quite reassuring, so he let her do it.
