Wren narrowed his eyes as he ripped his foot from its frozen position, then the other, then tripped up the stairs hastily and burst into the library.
Upon finding Val, he held out a finger.
“Okay, l-listen, Val,” he said, clearing his throat. He hated confrontation, but he really saw no other way out of it.
“I can’t understand you. Maybe it’s because your a vampire or a woman— I mean, no, that’s not what I meant, I— Never mind. What I’m saying is that I can’t keep doing this, alright.”
He paused for a moment, letting the silence weigh on his words.
“Listen,” he muttered, putting his hands down on the table. A deep growl escaped his throat. “I like you, okay? See? That wasn’t that hard to say. So tell me how you actually feel about me.”
His eyes almost glowed an amber brown as he resisted the urge to snarl, but he had been keeping these emotions down for way too long.
“So?”
