"You and I both," Hazel replied after swallowing. It had been awhile since she didn't worry so heavily on her calorie consumption. Why did things seem to drift to a mental backburner around Carrio…?

Carrio smiled charmingly again before starting on his muffin. His upmost confidence in himself and his metabolism not failing to pull him through a second cup of coffee and muffin.

(Usually she would wear a jacket despite it being warm to cover up her old cuts on her arms. Well somehow it gets pulled off by getting stuck idk and Carrio sees and it causes a whole lot of explaining to happen)
(Either that or instead of it getting stuck he could finally ask about it and because of good friendship reasons he asks to see her arm.)
"I always forget how good these are," Hazel commented, returning Carrio's smile. The rain outside seemed to be calming down, less people around the streets having their umbrellas opened to block the precipitation.

Carrio hummed. “They’re scrumptious. Probably the best muffins around. I might have to get a third one!”

Hazel giggled lightly at this. It seemed a bit much to have quite that many, but perhaps he had a good metabolism and were one of those people able to get away with having more sweets than most.
"Must be, seeing as you've eaten two so quickly."

The weather was a lot warmer now, sun shining through the windows of the library. Hazel was currently reshelving the fantasy section due to several new copies arriving as of late. It was already so wonderful working with Carrio in the small building. It felt so cozy and comfortable. Pushing up her glasses, she returned the rolling cart up towards the front desk.

Carrio smiled up at her. “Ready for some more?” He always woke up ready to go to his job. He loved the job before Hazel started, but something with her working here made it so much more enjoyable and fun for him.

Hazel nodded confidently. It wasn't all too hard of a job to handle, really. For being quite the bookish person, she tended to straighten them as a simple patron anyways. It was just a bonus to be paid for it. Helping grab an armful of novels onto the cart, she had her sleeve begin to fall a bit. Hopefully before Carrio noticed, she tugged it back down. She flashed him a warm smile as they worked. Teamwork definitely made things all the better. Were she able to dance, it might have been nice to do so to the calming jazz Carrio often played.
Carrio smiled and glanced down at her sleeve. “Hey, why do you always wear that? It’s like, a million degrees outside! It must be really stuffy for you.” He gave her a carefully concerned look.

Were it anyone else, it might have offended them. Hazel however, felt it wasn't the right time to tell Carrio exactly as to why she usually wore a jacket. He was right. Outside, it really was quite hot. It was only until she got from the bus into the cool library. By then, it really didn't seem that bad. Of course there were several down sides, but Hazel only wished to not have to think about how horrible her state of mind once was.
"Sometimes girls wear strange things you know? Shorts in cold weather, jackets in the summer?" she started. Seeing as he wasn't convinced, she admitted part of the truth.
"I feel a bit more comfortable this way."
Carrio gave her a worried look. “You might die of heat exaustion if you go outside for a long period of time. But, if you don’t want to tell me, that’s fine.”

Not wanting Carrio to feel bad, her mind began to fight between several options. Hazel wanted to be truthful, but also didn't want the male to worry about something that already happened. She trusted Carrio but worried about him as well. It was important in their relationship both as friends and as employer and employee.
(lowkey tempted to make her actually pass out from too much warmth just for angst but that's pretty mean lol)

Carrio smiled a little. “Look, I mean it. You don’t have to tell me if you don't want to.”

"I appreciate that," Hazel said with a grin. Turning, she went off to shelve the next round of returned books. Something was tugging at the back of her mind at this, but Hazel ignored it. The time would come when it did. Just not yet. Maybe if he asked again. She was just worried that he would stress over it when there was no reason to.
Carrio sighed softly. He went back to his computer and continued cataloging books. He wasn’t sure if he should be worried or not. He didn't want her to pass out somewhere and be picked up by someone… He shook his head.

Walking down the isles of shelves, she continued to question what was right to do. As she placed a new romance into it's new home, Hazel ended up glancing through it. It seemed alright considering it was neither of the friends' taste. Why did everyone assume all girls liked romance?

Carrio clicked onto his music-playing app and started some jazz. He didn’t understand why he felt so anxious about her passing out somewhere, but he assured himself it was a friendly thing. He nodded a little. Just friends.

Hazel frowned as she noticed a novel out of place. Bending down, she slid it back into place before continuing. She grinned as she heard the slow jazz flow through the speakers. That was always such a nice touch here.
Carrio hummed with the jazz, focusing on it. He should bring his saxophone someday and play it for Hazel. He wondered if she liked saxophone solos. Probably.

After her second round, Hazel came forward again, walking behind the counter, peering over Carrio's shoulder. It was nice to hear the deep humming as well.
