"You're very welcome," he said with a small bow. He walked over to the car, opening Fern's door before going to his own. He got in and buckled himself, putting the keys in.
i'm bored who wants to do a one-on-one? (closed)
She smiled at his chivalry, getting in. She kept glancing at him and smiling shyly.
Zavian could see het looking up as he drove. He smiled and took her hand, keeping one hand onthe wheel. They made it to her house, slowly and carefully pulling up. "Do you want me to walk you up or stay hidden?"
“I don’t think anyone is home yet,” she said. “So whichever you think is best.” Her house wasn’t the first bus stop, so they would have some time. Her younger siblings usually got him after she and Tyler did, so she assumed she was fine.
"Well then, I'll walk you to the door." He turned off the car and unbuckled. He got out of the car and walked over to her side opening it for her. "Madame." A smile spread across his face. However short the walk was, it was still time he could be with her.
She blushed, smiling too. She loved it when he smiled. He didn’t always do that, especially at school, but he had an amazing smile. She got out of the car with a giggle.
He took her by the hand, closing the door behind her. After a very long walk, they came to the door. "Well," he turned her around to him, "I guess this is goodbye for a few days."
“Yeah,” she sighed. “I guess it is.” She reluctantly glanced at the door before returning her eyes to him. “Goodbye kiss?” She added hopefully.
"No." He held a masked stern face before it broke as he brought her closer, grabbing her waist. "Okay, maybe a little…" His lips met hers, not wanting to say goodbye.
She didn’t want to say goodbye either. She ran her hands through his hair.
“Fern?” A boy’s voice asked, sounding confused.
Is that Tyler? Oh crap…
Zave pulled apart at the voice, hands still on her waist. Shoot. "I- uh…" He looked to the boy who seemed to be standing in the doorway. "I…"
“Who are you? Fern, is this your boyfriend?” Tyler asked, looking at the two of them with a smirk. “About time, sis. Wait, is this the guy you were doing a project with?”
“How do you even know about that?” Fern asked.
“Maple,” Tyler replied. He turned to look at Zavian. “So, are you her boyfriend?” Fern blushed, embarrassed.
"Yes." He was surprised he didn't hesitate like he had before, but so glad he hadn't. "Yes," he repeated, "I am."
Tyler raised an eyebrow at Fern. “Good job,” he said. She blushed an even deeper shade of red.
“Are you going to tell mom and dad?” She asked nervously.
“No,” Tyler replied with a laugh. “You finally get a boyfriend; I don’t want you guys to break up because of me.” Fern visibly relaxed. Tyler turned to Zavian for the next part. “If I were you, I’d leave before Maple gets home. She has a notoriously big mouth.” He laughed again. Fern glared at him. Shut. Up. Tyler.
He looked to the ground. "Right." He reluctantly let go of her. "I'll see ya later then." He started to the car before he could change his mimd of leaving.
“See you soon,” Fern called after him, hopefully. Her brother smirked.
“See you soon,” he repeated, mocking. Fern shoved him and he laughed. “Seriously though Fern, good job.” She rolled her eyes.
“Tyler, can you stop?” She asked, annoyed. He shrugged and laughed.
He gave her one last smile before driving away. It was hard to keep his eyes on the road considering that all he could see was her eyes. Focus up. Can't afford to be in an accident.
After he left, Tyler and Fern went inside. He continued to tease her until Maple got home. Fern and Tyler had made an agreement not to tell anyone about her relationship.
(Ok, so i can add one of two mixes of drama or we can skip, drama or safety for now?)
Ooh drama//
(Oof, yay! Car crash or grandma stuff?)
You pick!//
(Oofity oofs kk)
Zavian safely made his way home, careful not to get too distracted. He got home and walked inside. It seemed quiet. "Gran?" Fear sparked within him. "Gran?" Urgency filled his voice. She might just be laying down. He practically ran to her room, opening the door. She lay on the floor, barely breathing. "GRAN!" Of all the people… If I had just gotten home sooner… He rushed to her side, pulling his phone out of his pocket to call 911.
Fern was, of course, completely oblivious to this and was just having a (mostly) normal time with her family, with the exception of Tyler being extra crazy today. Everything else was pretty ordinary for her.
The ambulance had come taking them both to the ER. He wasn't sure what had happened from there. They whisked her away while he could only pace the waiting room. Nothing really made sense. He couldn't think, he couldn't breathe, it was suffocating to know that the only person he had left might suddenly disappear.
After dinner, Tyler came into Fern’s room. “I’ll keep quiet about your whole relationship,” he began.
“Yeah,” Fern replied. “You said that already.” She was a bit annoyed, Truth be told.
“But…” he added. Oh great. “You gotta drive me to Lindsay’s party this weekend. You know mom and dad will never let me go.”
“Tyler…” she groaned. “I don’t even have a car.”
“Take mom’s, or your boyfriend’s,” he suggested, waggling his eyebrows.
“And if I don’t?” Fern asked.
“I might tell mom,” Tyler replied. “And dad. Your choice.” She glared at him. Blackmail? Really?
He had finally been allowed to see her. He walked into the room. She lay silently, eyes closed, chest slowly heaving up and down. The heart monitor beeped as he plopped into the chair as he rested his head in his hands. Please just hold on a little longer…
Fern sighed. “Fine, I’ll find a way to get you to that stupid party,” she muttered.
“Thanks sis,” Tyler replied with a grin.
“As if I had a choice,” she mumbled, rolling her eyes as he walked out of the room.
"I'm sorry." With that, the doctor left the room leaving Zavian to the beeping of the monitor as he sank deeper into himself. No. The doctor had told him that whatever they had her on would only keep her for so long. No. If she was lucky, she'd make it a few days. No! But they didn't think she'd even make it that far. NO! He stood, the chair he was sitting on falling to the ground. Every part of him ached. He just wanted her to open her eyes, to smile. Even so, she was silent. He could feel her fading, the light that she had brought him seemingly disappearing into a darkness he wasn't sure how to navigate. He didn't want to think about anything- he couldn't think about anything. All he could do was shatter.
Fern decided to read a book. She kept thinking about Zavian though and it was difficult for her to focus. She wondered what he was doing right then. Probably having dinner with his grandma or something.
