Alex gently placed his hand on Firiko.
"Firiko, it's time to wake up."
group
Alex gently placed his hand on Firiko.
"Firiko, it's time to wake up."
Firiko huffed, curling in on himself.
group
Rolling his eyes, Alex lightly shook Firiko.
"Time to get up!" He repeated.
Firiko stirred, growling lightly.
group
"Come on; the food's heated up, and we need to get moving if we're gonna reach the mountain!" Alex chuckled, stepping away to tidy up the camp.
Firiko finally uncurled, growling lightly at him.
group
Alex looked over at Firiko.
"I see your up, sleepy head. Here." Alex poured a bowl of the leftovers and set it by Firiko.
Firiko glared at him. "Don't you know not to wake the sleeping wolf?"
group
"Don't you know I've done stupider things?" Alex laughed at himself.
"Yeah, but you never, ever wake the sleeping wolf.." he growled softly, lapping at the bowl
group
"Fine, fine. Next time I'll let you wake me up," Alex rolled his eyes. He got himself some of the food and ate quietly.
Firiko ate his quietly, before sleepily pressing up against the other, laying his head down to go back to sleep.
(He's too tired to think straight)
group
Alex glanced down at Firiko, stunned for a moment. Then, he smiled and continued eating.
Firiko drifted off again happily.
group
Alex quietly finished his food. Then, not wanting to disturb Firiko, he set his bowl down, picked up his book, and started reading again. Of course, he had moved on to another tale.
"The queen looked down at her daughter, filled with disgust. She tossed the child into the moat, where it joined the others the queen had born."
(THAT'S A HORRIBLE STORY WHY IS THE FLUFF READING IT?????????)
Firiko slept peacfully, his feathers smooshed against Alex's side.
group
(He's an 80's kid. Every kid's movie and story was dark af back then)
Alex glanced at Firiko. His feathers felt so soft.
"Of course, this child was different; it was the child of the fae king. As the child sunk under the water, struggling for air, the people of the water rose around her, breathing into her lungs."
(Riiiiiiiiiight. Casually hands Alex a less traumatizing book)
Firiko's ear twitched as he slept.
group
(Oml, I laughed when I read that and my teacher gave me the look.)
"A-And so, the g-girl gre-ew up…" Alex had finally realized what was going on; Firiko was snuggled up to him. He blushed a light pink.
Firiko stayed where he was sleeping peacefully.
group
Alex finally put his hand down, resting it on Firiko. He made sure not to wake him, though.
Firiko didn't stirr, his ears drooping as he slept.
group
(This is adorable. Time to ruin it)
Alex smiled again, returning to his book. The trees softly rustled around the camp, but Alex thought it was just an early morning wind.
Unfortunately, this was not the case.
(Yep)
Firiko snuggled closer, his wind getting a bit smooshed.
group
Alex, buried in his book, slowly started to run his fingers through Firiko's fur, unconsciously. That's when the first arrow struck the tree behind them with a loud thunk!
Firiko started at the thunk, tense as his feathers fluffed.
group
Alex's head wiped around to where the arrow had come from. A large, burly man stepped out of the tree line. He had a crossbow aimed at Firiko.
"Move and I put an arrow through your wolf's head."
Firiko tensed, staying where he was, unable to see the attacker.
group
Alex froze, not wanting to get Firiko hurt.
"What do you want?" He asked, a slight tremor in his voice. The man smirked.
"You know exactly what we want; the powers of the artifact." Alex's brow furrowed.
"I don't have it," he said. The man stepped forward and put his finger on the trigger.
"You see, I don't believe you. Either you hand it over or I kill you and your pet and find it myself."
Firiko stayed quiet, relying on Alex since he couldn't risk moving.his ears flattened against his skull as his ings trembled slightly in fear.
