“Dang it, you win.” Aster sighed, “I did expect you to win, but I’m still mad at myself for not winning.” Aster laughed.
“Don’t be, watching you play was watching a baby deer learning how to walk.”

“Well, it’s not as bad as a baby giraffe on roller blades,” Aster smiled and stretched back, sore from sitting with a hunched back for so long.
“That’s a new one I haven’t heard before.”
“Really? My mom calls me that all the time when I try to cook.”
“Is that why you make salads?” Jasper grinned.
“Yep! No need to use the stove or oven! Once I tried to make some mac and cheese for lunch when I was home alone,” Aster shook his head, “didn’t go too well.”
“Did you burn it?”
“Um… yeah,” Aster grinned sheepishly, “you see, I didn’t read the instructions, ‘cause, hey, I can make a salad, how hard can some noodles be? So I kinda…. threw the whole box….. on the stove……. without water………. or a pot……….”
Jasper blinked, then he cracked up. “Why would you ever throw something on a stove without a pot or a pan?”
Aster’s face burned like the box he threw on the stove, “I didn’t know how to cook and I thought it’d cook faster that way!” Aster protested. After a bit, he mumbled, “To be fair, it did cook faster.”
“You’re hilarious.” Jasper laughed.

“And you’re smart,” Aster smiled, face still a bit warm.
