”What?” Lysander asked, protectively holding Laura-Beth closer. ”How did she survive and why are werewolves coming here?”
Henry shrugged. ”I have no idea how but if I had to guess about the wolves; it probably has something to do with the wolf mafia.”

”Over my rotting corpse.” Lysander barely restrained from growling since he still held Luara-Beth. Though his eyes were red as he headed to the kitchen to inform Betty.
Betty was pale paler than vampires should be
”Oh, no. Betty?” Lysander walked over to her side. ”Guys, get in here. Betty, can you hear me?”
Laura-Beth was starting to cry.
Betty couldn't see straight color was fading
Henry raced into the kitchen at Lysander’s tone. ”What happened?” He asked in worry when he saw Betty.
”I don't know. Here, hold Laura-Beth.” Lysander instructed. As soon as his arms were free, he gently lifted Betty up and bit his wrist. He wasn't sure if this would help but he was willing to try. ”Betty, come on. Drink a little.” he encouraged.
She pushed him away the sight of blood making her sick
”Angel, what's wrong?” Lysander asked, a tiny bit relieved that he got a reaction from her.
Betty coughed into her hand hacking up blood
Henry poked his head out of the kitchen. ”Hey, Tyler? You know any healing magic?”
Lysander kept holding Betty.
Tyler shook her head
Betty cried tears of blood
Henry wanted to swear but bit his tongue for the sake of the little girl in his arms.
Lysander gently brushed away her tears. ”Just stay calm. Keep breathing. You'll be alright.” he murmured. ”S-should we… Do you want us to take you to the hospital?”
She shook her head
”I’m going to take that as a yes.” Lysander said, gently picking her off the floor. He turned to Henry and Tyler. ”Take the car, bring Laura-Beth and meet us there. Her car seat is already set up.”
Henry nodded, still holding his little niece.

Lysander looked at Tyler. ”Do you know what’s causing this?” he asked.
" Alec…" She said
"How?" he asked, very worried. "How is he doing this? And how do we stop it?"
" I don't know* she said
Lysander sighed and carefully held his wife. "Would killing him work this time?" he asked, his voice empty.
She shrugged
Lysander sighed at the inconclusive answer.
"You could always try putting him up to "The Challenge"." Henry suggested softly.
Lysander looked at his brother in mild shock. "You know how serious that is. As far as I know, there hasn't been a Challenge in two… three centuries?" he said unsure.
"Two and a half."
Betty sighed " no" she said
Lysander looked at Betty. "No what?" he asked. "If it means keeping you and our daughter safe, I'll do anything."
" ok first y all what the hell is a challenge?" Tyler asked
"The Challange is… something all vampires are kind of bound to." Henry explained. "If it is issued, the two involved can not back out. And no one can interfere or the terms for both sides are forfeit. And I mean literally no one on Earth or in Hell or even in Heaven."
"If I was to Challenge him, it would be to the death. If I won; no one who has ever allied with him would never be able to bother us again. Definitely not him, not Marie, not Benjamin." Lysander promised. "I'd have to issue it face-to-face. So until then, nothing is set in stone."
Betty shook her head " you can't" she said
"I can't let us live in fear that at any moment that monster can tear us apart like this just because he's a Sadist." Lysander told her. "I won't lose. I'd have something worth fighting for. I love you and it hurts me to see you being hurt." he reminded her. "Besides, I won't let our daughter grow up without her father."
She shook her head " you don't understand he's stronger than you he can absorb other people's powers" she said
