He smiled at her and gently continued running his fingers through her hair.
She heard a thymp from down the hall and jolted up
”What is it?” he asked, worried. ”Is it the kids?”
She got up and super sped to down the hall
Lysander stood up and followed after her as fast as he could, which was much slower because of his healing injuries.
She listened for any crying
Laura-Beth had rolled out of her bed and was sniffling softly. She had banged her knee when she fell.
She walked in Laura-Beths room
Laura-Beth looked up when she heard her mommy walk in, still holding her knee.
She walked over and kneeled beside her
“I fell out of bed.” the little girl whimpered.
" oh sweetheart " she said and picked her up
Laura-Beth rubbed her eye before wrapping her arms around her mom.
'' its okay" she said
”My knee hurts.” she said softly.
" I know Laura-Beth " she said
Laura-Beth nuzzled closer, burying her face against her mother's neck as Lysander finally got to the door.
She smiled softly
”Is everyone alright?” he asked, leaning against the door frame.
"She fell" she said
Lysander nodded a little, partly relieved that it wasn't anything more serious… or dangerous as he walked in and sat on the floor with the two girls.
She layed her head on his shoulder
He was breathing a little heavy from his run and the pain flaring up in his leg, but he managed to smile softly and wrap his arm around the two.
" you okay?" She asked
”I’ll be ok.” he nodded. ”I think I'm going to have to rest a bit more today after all.” he ended, half joking.
" you probably should " she said
”I will.” he promised.
She kissed his cheek" she said
He smiled softly and kissed her cheek back, though he missed what she said.
