Moxiey jerked her head up. Oh no… "Luc…"

She swam over, concerned and a little upset. "What are you doing out? It's the middle of the night!"

I'd like to know that myself… Maddox shifted a bit so that he could better.

"I… I… I wanted to go up to the surface again…" Moxiey rubbed her arms. She didn't mention that she got seen. Yet.

Lucinda's face softened. "You know how dangerous that is. You're too young to do that on your own, we've talked about this, Moxiey."

"I was with Rhea…" She mumbled.

She waved

"Who's that?" She asked.

"My new friend."

(Maybe Rhea could say something about Moxiey getting seen.)

“The beautiful man on the boat looked at us and his eyes were so pretty!” She exclaimed

Rhea? Maddox moved closer, accidentally sending a rock clattering to the ocean floor. He quickly ducked his head behind the rocks, his heart pounding in his throat.

“Whose there?” She asked

Moxiey's heart leaped and she lowered her head after Rhea spoke about the man on the boat.

Maddox held his breath, pressing his back against the rock formation. Luce would be furious if she found me here…

Matrix shrank back into the shadows of the waves as everyone else rushes forward

"You saw a man?" Lucinda asked, eyes widening. She didn't even notice what Rhea had said. "Did he see you?"

"Maybe," Moxiey whispered. It was the quietest that she'd ever spoken.

Lucinda felt her body tense up. She looked up at the boat and backed away. "We have to leave then."

Moxiey didn't argue. She just followed Lucinda home quickly.

Maddox followed after them silently, taking a shortcut and managing to get into the cave and back in his corner before they arrived. He pretended to be asleep, though his breath and heart rate were a bit too fast for that. His injured shoulder stung badly, but he ignored the pain.

Matrix looks around at the ground then shoots off through it, causing a small trail of mud behind him til he pulls up into the waves.

Lucinda zipped into the cave and settled down in her usual spot. She glanced over at Maddox and frowned. He looked tense, and his breathing was rapid. "Maddox?" she whispered, wondering if he was even asleep.

Maddox opened his eyes and looked up at Lucinda, his heart pounding. "Mmm…?" He answered in a falsely drowsy tone.

"You've been awake this whole time, haven't you?" She sad, sighing.

"Uh… maybe?" Maddox didn't meet Lucinda's eyes, waiting for his pulse and breathing to return to normal.

"I'm sorry, I must've woken you up when I was looking for Moxiey…" she said, turning away from him.

Yeah, we'll go with that… "Um, where… where did Moxiey go?"
