Carter swam, smiling knowing at the messy room. Arria looks so cute… He swam to look over his sea boy’s shoulder, wondering what the currency could possibly be. He tilted his head, his eyes watching with the eagerness of a child.
Arria pulled out a small leather bag out of the top drawer. He grinned and pulled out a small coin. The coin was silver, with teal and light purple patters everywhere, resembling seaweed. In the center, a small trident. He handed it to Carter to look at.
Carter’s mouth parted slightly in awe, his fingers tracing over the designs. “It’s so pretty… It even has the trident…” It was just like a human coin, except cooler and more fancy. “Wow…” He mumbled, still admiring it.
Arria rolled his eyes with a smile and snatched the coin back, “Come on then, let’s go get you a bag or something.” He placed the coin back in the bag with a grin before swimming out of his mess of a room.
Carter grinned too, interweaving his hand with Arria’s and swimming out excitedly. “This is gonna be fun.” Unless we see Yuri… Carter smiled brightly anyways, trying to ignore his negative thoughts about Yuri for now.
Arria rolled his eyes again but smiled, “Maybe for you it will be.” He let out a content sigh and swam with Carter towards the shinging lights of the city. It was only then when Arria remembers something and gasped, “I totally forgot about the festival preparations! Everything’s going to be so busy…”
“Festival?” Carter’s voice went up a notch, his interest piqued. He looked at the glowing city, his eyes searching, “Why is there a festival? Some kind of holiday?” He asked, tilting his head to the side.
“Queen’s birthday. There’s a parade then a huge party at the castle. Anyone and everyone is invited to go. Most people do, but there are decorations that go up in the streets and parties in the city too.” Arria explained with a shrug if his shoulders.
“Really? Is it like a ball?” Carter asked, raising an eyebrow. Dancing with Arria would be so fun… He smiled, looking at the city again. Going through the city tonight with Arria would be very romantic…
Arria shrugged again, “Eh, kinda. The first part is all formal then it gets crazy. The Queen disappears after a while and lets us have all the fun.”
“Well then I’m excited,” Carter told him, picking up the pace for the city, “This’ll be so fun, I can’t wait. What are merpeople parties like?” He asked with a grin.
“Lot’s of flirting, food and dancing.” Aria said with a small laugh, “It’s basics,ky the same as a land party just underwater and better in every way.”
Carter grinned smugly, “Well in that case…” He pecked Arria playfully on the cheek, “I might just flirt and dance a lot tonight,” He pulled his hand out of Arria’s and darting for the city.
Arria laughed a little and followed him, “I’m sure you will.” He said once he had caught up with him.
Carter flashed him a grin, racing towards the glow of the city happily, “Hurry up, Arria~” Carter spread out his arms, loving the feel of the water flowing over his skin like that. This is breathtaking.
Arria laughed, “I’m coming, I’m coming.” He caught up with Carter and grabbed his hand, taking a sharp left turn into the center street. Decorations hung everywhere, poeple were laughing and grinning at them as they passed. It looked beautiful.
Carter smiling, moving to wrap his arm around Arria’s waist. He grinned happily, absorbed in the beautiful decorations and style. This is so beautiful… “I’m happy I’m here with you Arria.”
“I’m happy you’re here too.” Arria smiled at Carter before pushing open the double doors of a store to their right. Other merfolk bustled around the store, minding their own business. Bright colours sprang from every corner.
Carter swam in gleefully, his eyes immediately began looking through the store. “I still find it hard to believe…” Never in his life would he have thought he’d ever go shopping underwater with a merman.
"Well it's real so start believing." Arria laughed and swam towards a corner of the shop, waving to a few people he vaguely new or were friends with. He forgot how much he actually liked shopping. He let out a content sigh and stopped at a corner of the shop where there was a selection of small bags, off the shoulder bags -made from clams- and a variety of others too.
“Oooo~” Carter examined the bag with amusement and delight, “They’re all so pretty!” He squealed, looking at one particular bag that seemed like it could carry a lot yet still be functional. Carter tried it on, modeling for Arria, “How does this one look?”

Arria grinned at him, “Handsome as ever. If that’s be the one you’re happy with that then there something else we need to do ti get ready for the festival.” He giggled a little at the thought.
Carter took off the bag and half onto it. “What is it?” Carter asked, curiosity taking control of him. He tilted his head to the side slightly, smiling a little bit because of how darn cute Arria was when he giggled like that.
Arria giggled a little more and grabbed Carter’s hand in his, “This way…” He hummed leading them to a reflecting bubble on a drawer the worked like a mirror, “Sit.” Arria commanded, jesturing to the floating stool with a smile.
Carter sat, raising his eyebrows at Arria but not commenting. He glanced at the mirror-like bubble and laughed a tiny bit. Merpeople are pretty cool… He folded his hands over his lap, looking expectantly at Arria.
Arria made sure Carter couldn't see the bubble, facing him away from it. By this point most people were heading to the party so Arria would have to be quick. He reached into a draw and picked up a paste the same colour as Carter's tail, "Close your eyes."
Carter obliged closing his eyes and waiting expectantly on the edge of his seat. “What is it?” He asked, pursing his lips for a second.

Arria giggled, “Hold still.” Using his finger, he made a line of dots under Carter’s left eye and a line above his right. He then drew one line down the center of hisnface, across his forehead, nose and lips, “All done.”

Carter barely held in his own giggle when Arria touched his face, keeping his eyes closed the entire time. When Arria signaled whatever he did was finished, he open his eyes and looked at his sea boy expectantly, “What did you do?”
Arria bit his lip with a small giggle, "Now, you're ready for the party." He made a twirling motion with his finger, indicating it was okay for Carter to turn around and look in the bubble. He put the paste down and grabbed one for himself, a deep violet to match his eyes and tail.
