Now, instead of a bustling place full of people and technology, it stood as a reminder of the past. Few people lived in New York, mostly runaways or orphans. The power was mostly shut off now, so on a clear night you could see all the stars.
Mari sat on the edge of a building’s roof, dangling her feet off the edge. She sighed, looking at the sunset. It always seemed colorful and vibrant, like a painting that’s brand new.
