Finley nodded. "I'll be sure to look for your name in the papes." He chuckled.
"I think I'd mostly write 'bout women's rights," Sacia mused aloud, twirling the edge of her braid peeking from beneath her hat. "Suffragettes are real interesting."

"Interesting is one word for 'em. Some of them suffrage women are crazy." Finley told her. "Kicked me one time when I was sellin' a pape with some headline they didn't like."
"That ain't crazy. I'd kick you too." Sacia stuck her tongue out at him. "They got some good points, an' kickin' you is one of 'em."

He rolled his eyes. "Ain't my fault. I sell papes to keep myself alive. Sometimes you has'ta sell papes you don't agree with. Like today and the lousy strike." Finley kicked a pebble.
"Call me an idiot, but I guess I just like to have somethin' to believe in." Sacia shrugged, gazing up at the sky. "Somethin' to stand by. And I like it when people ain't just givin' up and lettin' unfair things just happen."

"Yeah," Sacia hummed. She was still peering up at the sky. "I guess that makes sense."

He snapped his fingers in front of her face. "Hey, stop daydreamin'. We're almost back at the lodging house."
Marvin, sitting on the floor, looked down at his empty stomach. Stupid strike, stupid papes, stupid money, stupid… He looked up when two people walked in. He recognized them slightly. Saca- something- or- another and Finny… or something like that.

Finley walked inside the lodging house, throwing his bag into the corner. "Hey Marv. Guess what? I sold all my papes today. One hundred an' five!" He bragged again.
"So'd I," Sacia called, "every single one." She poked Marvin with her foot. "What'd you sell?"
"Like, three." So, apparently, everybody else had a good selling day. At their puzzled looks, Marvin explained, "Spot Conlon and the gang want me to go to the strike rally to see how NYC's doing and report back. So, I couldn't sell the rest of my papes to 'show my support'." And now he was dinner less and tired.

"So Spot's all for the strike." Finley crossed his arms, leaning against the wall. "Figures."
"Would I sound like an idiot if I asked to tag along?" Sacia asked, trying not to smile.

Sacia raised her hands defensively. "I just wanta tag along! Plus, if Spot Conlon says somethin's a good idea, then maybe we oughta consider it."
