“Perfect,” he smiled back with some warm amusement, standing up. “I’ll see what I have in my cupboards. I know it isn’t much, but I think it will be enough for just the two of us.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack laughed again. "Alright. Would you like some help?" he asked, raising his eyebrows curiously.

“If you’d like to help, it would be appreciated,” he offered a smile. He stuck his hands casually in his pockets. “I think I have some beans that are already cooked and ready to season. I made them yesterday.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Alright." Jack stood up, walking over and giving Lincoln a faint smile. "Just tell me what to do." He said with another smile.

“Alright,” Lincoln have a curt nod, though he was smiling, and led Jack to the kitchen. He opened up one of the cupboards where jars of canned beets, jams, and even beans were stored. “What bean is your favorite?” He asked, “I might have it.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack blinked slowly. "I don't really have a favorite." he replied with a laugh. "So uhm…just make whatever type you prefer." he smiled at Lincoln.

“Alright,” Lincoln chuckled along, reaching up to take a jar of pinto beans out of the cupboard. “Any seasoning preferences? I don’t really have any. I’m good with them all.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack shook his head. "Nah. Like I said, I'll eat just about anything." He said.

Lincoln laughed, “Alright. How does uh…garlic, onion, salt, and pepper? And maybe sage?” He suggested, opening the cupboard where he kept his herbs.

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Uhm…sure." Jack replied. "How can I help?" He asked, leaning on the counter a little bit and watching Lincoln.

“Hm,” he tapped his chin, thinking. “Could you pour these beans into the pot on the stove?” He gestured over to the cast iron pot, “It’s clean and dried and ready to use.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack nodded, and did as Lincoln had asked him to. "Yeah." He was careful not to spill, since he didn't want to have to clean it up.

“Perfect, thank you.” He brought the jar of seasonings to the stove and started pouring in what seemed like appropriate amounts of each spice. “I usually don’t measure. My gut tells me when to stop. And it usually works out.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack nodded. "Well, if I die of spice overload, I'll let you know." he let out a laugh, looking at Lincoln with a smile.

Lincoln sputtered out laughter, “Good to know. Then I might consider putting less garlic in here. Or else I’ll just give it to my enemies.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack laughed again at Lincoln's words. "Ah yes, your many enemies. Perhaps your academic rivals? I'm sure they would appreciate it, up until they perished." He teased, smiling.

Lincoln burst into laughter, “Very true, but I have actual enemies. Other than university academic rivals, as pesky as those are,” he chortled. He poured in the garlic until he was satisfied, then set it aside on the counter.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack laughed a little bit, then cocked his head at Lincoln. "And who might those enemies be, I wonder?" he asked, raising his eyebrows curiously.

Lincoln moved onto sprinkling some sage into the pot. “There were some kids from hell where I came from in America. I’ve declared them my enemies.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack nodded a little bit. "I don't know if I should ask about that or not." He replied, shaking his head a little bit. He smiled at Lincoln. "But I'd assume not literally from hell, or they'd be Demons." He chuckled.

Lincoln smiled back over his shoulder, “I wouldn’t be surprised if they were actual demons. I’ll just leave them with the benefit of the doubt,” he chuckled along.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack laughed softly. "Mm. Well, you could send them the recipe for this, if it kills me from spiciness." He replied, smiling at Lincoln.

“Aha, I’ll just tell them to put an abhorrent amount of spice in their beans. That’ll show them.” He laughed heartily, stirring their meal with a wooden spoon. His shoulders bounced as he snickered, with as much gusto as he had when talking to Graham. “Although, I have to admit, I hope you don’t die.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack snickered a little as well. At Lincoln's next words, he dipped his head in a nod. "I hope I don't die either. That would be quite a loss." he smiled lightly, looking over at Lincoln.

“A tragedy, in fact,” Lincoln grinned. “Actually…what would happen if you died not in your own time. Would you simply die and never return to your own time? Or…?”

@ElderGod-Icefire

"I'd just die." Jack replied with a shrug. "If I managed to time travel before dying, my body would get out in stasis by Tip, the corps would be alerted, and by the time I came out in my own time, they'd be ready for me, and probably be able to save me. But if I don't travel back in time…" He shook his head.

“Damn,” Lincoln breathed, “What if they travel in time just before you die so they can save you? Where you die in one time, but not the other?”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack hesitated, thinking. "It depends. Usually traveling back in time to save me would cause a huge issue with the continuum and all that, plus if anyone saw them…" he trailed off, shaking his head.

“Oh, yeah…” he nodded, wincing a little bit at the thought. It all sounded so messy and complicated, but the only thing that bothered him was the thought of Jack dying. “So it wouldn’t be the best idea travel back in time and join a war?”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack laughed. "No, that would be a terrible idea." he replied, looking at Lincoln. "It really, really would be."
