Lincoln looked back only briefly before giving his attention back to the pot of beans. He laughed along, “It definitely would be. If there were a war, I don’t know if I would join or not. The odds are I wouldn’t.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack nodded a little bit. "Yeah. I mean…I've been a pirate before, but that's quite different." he added, shaking his head.

Lincoln’s eyes widened, and he paused what he was doing, “You've been a pirate? I did…not expect that,” he laughed.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack nodded, laughing. He rolled back his left sleeve, revealing a "P" branded into the inside of his left wrist. "Yeah. See?" He replied.

Lincoln blinked, craning his neck to see. “Damn, yeah, that looks authentic. What did you do, exactly? Just pirate-y things?”

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Just pirate-y things, yeah. I got caught, though, and branded. Which was…painful." he pressed his lips in a thin line at the memory.

“Ouch,” he grimaced, “I can only imagine.” He looked at it for another handful of moments before returning half of his attention to their meal. “It is interesting, I mean it makes sense, but it’s interesting how something that happens to your body and the effects of it stays the same through any time period your travel to. I suppose it’s kind of like how you can remember what happened each time you traveled.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack nodded a little bit. "Yeah. I mean, if I couldn't remember, I wouldn't be much use, now would I?" He chuckled softly. "But yeah, that's why time traveling is so…hard on the travelers, sometimes. Because we spend weeks or even months in a time period, and then we come back and everyone we know hasn't even aged a day. It's hard on our loved ones, too, because…" He shook his head. "I've seen things on these trips that…make it hard to sleep sometimes. And it's hard on other people, because to them it seems I change radically in just ten minutes, even if for me I've been gone for months."

Lincoln took the pot off of the fire and set it ona hot pad on the counter, and extinguished the flame on the store, all while still listening to Jack. He turned around and leaned against the counter, looking back at his friend with an empathetic frown set on his lips. "Wow…That's…" he searched for the word. He eventually decided that there wasn't an appropriate word to describe the emotion Jack described. "…complicated, I can only imagine," he exhaled, bowing and shaking his head.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack nodded a little, looking at Lincoln. "Yeah. And I mean…traveling like this…it's amazing. It's…god, it's the best thing ever. But…like I said. It's hard." he ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head just a little bit. "I don't know."

Lincoln took a few steps closer to Jack, furrowing his brow. “I hadn’t thought about that earlier.” He wished there was something ge could do, but he wasn’t sure what else he could do besides just talking with him. “Do you often travel alone?”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack's lips twitched in a faint smile. "Yeah. It's actually pretty rare for us in the Corps to travel together, though we do on occasion." he replied. "So usually it's just me."

“Usually…” he echoed softly as he turned to another cupboard and set down a couple bowls for the two of them. “Like I’ve mentioned before, if you’ll have me, I would love to go on a couple trips with you. When we get your Tip repaired, of course.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack nodded a little. "Yeah. I'll take you, alright? Just on one or two, though." he replied with a faint smile.

“Fine, fine,” he laughed, “I know I keep bugging you about it, I’m just so excited.” He divided the beans into two bowls, and set one aside for Jack.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack grinned, picking up a bowl. "I don't mind enthusiasm." He replied, looking at Lincoln. "But travel is impossible until Tip gets fixed."

“Of course,” he shuffled through some drawers for spoons. “Are we going to the shop tomorrow, then? I think we’ll be quite weary after we go to the bar tonight.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack nodded. "Tomorrow sounds like a good plan to me." He responded, taking a spoon. His fingers brushed against Lincoln's, and his mouth twitched in a faint smile.

Lincoln’s motions stuttered are the brief touch, a smile appearing on his face as well. He took the spoon and placed it in his bowl. “I’m not entirely sure what to expect from this bar. I cant even begin to predict the energy, if the music is going to be peaceful or lively.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack put his spoon in the bowl, and shrugged. "I don't know either." he replied softly. "But it'll be fun." he smiled over at Lincoln, and took a careful bite of the food.

“It will,” Lincoln grinned, taking a bite of the beans. He blinked off to the side while he judged how good they tasted. He nodded approvingly, “Decent enough,” he decided.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack nodded. "Mhm. I'm not dying of spice, so it's fine." he chuckled softly, taking another bite.

"Damn, my genius plan failed," he teased, swirling his spoon around the bowl to help try and cool it off. It wasn't burning hot, but still uncomfortably warm if he wasn't tentative with it.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He laughed a little, blowing on it to cool it down. "Aye, it did." He agreed, smiling over at Lincoln, and then taking another bite of food.

Lincoln looked sideways back at him. The corner of his eyelids were crinkled happily, even as he lifted his spoon to take another bite. For no reason other than to be funny, he winked at Jack.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack laughed at the wink, and stuck his tongue out in return, then went back to eating.

Lincoln chuckled heartily through a close lipped smile. His thoughts today had been primarily focused on Jack, a stark difference than what his thoughts were composed of yesterday. He’d never thought of himself as an emotional person, normally only understood gears and artificial moving parts. This warm, fuzzy feeling in heart chest felt very foreign, and yet right.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jack kept eating, blowing on the beans to keep them cool. He finished. "What should I do with the bowl?" he asked, holding it up as if to demonstrate.

“Just put it in the basin over there,” he gestured, scraping his spoon across the bottom of the bowl to get the last bite.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He nodded, putting his bowl in the basin and sitting down on the couch, watching Lincoln with a soft smile.
