"Clearly," she drawled. "Come on, let's get your cabin set up and ready to go. You mind sharing, or shall I bully someone into relocating?"

"Clearly," she drawled. "Come on, let's get your cabin set up and ready to go. You mind sharing, or shall I bully someone into relocating?"
"Could not care less," he responded, attempting to walk by himself.
group
Fane swept over to him in a smooth stride, helping him walk without damaging his legs any further. "You sir, are the most difficult man I've ever encountered," she huffed.
"I highly doubt that," he responded, leaning against her with no complaints. "I feel like your years if pirating have had you meet many difficult men."
group
"True enough," she admitted, "but none have been so reliant on others to make decisions for them. Usually it's 'I want this and I want that, and give it to me now.'" She mimicked a posh accent with a curled nose and her chin up in the air, "'Oh, and make it snappy-snappy. I have a dog showing in five and I'd like to look my best.' Like, what the fuck does that even have to do with me robbing you?"
"Sounds very familiar to me," he said, admitting a small part of his past to her.
group
She snorted, leading him to the cabins. "Those were the stubborn ones that made me want to slap them. Or maybe rid them of their giant heads. Either one would work, I suppose."
"In which one of those categories to ! fall under?" he asked, putting a hand out against the wall when she let him go to open the door.
group
"You're not annoying enough for me to want to beat you upside the head," she said as she worked the tricky doors. The damn things always got stuck. She then paused and looked up, blinking. "Wait, I already did that. Whoops."
"Yes," he said, rubbing the back of his head in memory, "you have."
group
She just shrugged and ammended her statement. "I can tolerate you. You're stubborn in an entertaining way, that is, until you piss me off. Then you'll get more than slapped upside the head."
"Well, let us hope that doesn't happen," he said, limping his way into his new cabin. "Who will be my bunk mate?"
group
"Cross your fingers," she said, then followed him in and stopped at the doorway, leaning against the frame. "Surprise surprise, it's Mercedes. I picked her because she can make sure you're not doing anything stupid, like jumping jacks or some shit. Also, because she's not a fucking lunatic."
"I appreciate that," he said, flopping down onto the bed on the left-hand side of the room. "At least, the non-lunatic part."
group
"You're welcome." She leaned back when she heard the voice of the future second mate. "I gotta go take care of something real quick. Take it easy, don't get into any fights, stay away from guns, don't eat suspicious food, yadda yadda. Make yourself at home, mate," she said, then sketched a sarcastic bow and backed away.
"I do not know how I would do any of that stuff without functioning legs, but okay," he said, throwing a thumbs up into the air as she backed away."
group
"Mumchance!" she called, jogging to catch up to the other pirate. "I've got a message from Cap for you."
Mumchance was one of the older members of the crew, around 42 years of age. He was their long-time wheelman, the one who was sent to control the wheel when a strong storm hits.
"Aye?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
group
She came up to him and clapped him on the shoulder. "You're being promoted. I'm looking at the new second mate of the crew. Congrats." Fane quite liked Mumchance, as she's known him since forever. Seeing as he was her elder, she had a certain respect for the guy.
"Ah?" he asked, the other eyebrow raising in surprise. "So Trey kicked the bucket? Sorry fo' ya loss, and thanks fo' the promotion."
group
She shrugged and crossed her arms over her chest. "The life we live isn't an easy one. At least he went down swinging, if a bit drunk." She shook her head and looked up at the man. "I suggest going to talk to Cap about your new position."
"Aye. See ya, Fane." He walked off in the direction of the captains cabin, hands in his pockets.
group
She watched him go, then stood around for a bit to make sure she was alone. After a solid minute of silence, she released a shuddering breath and leaned against the wall, sliding down until she hit the floor with her legs sprawled out before her. Her eyes were closed and her head was against the wall, and silent tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Newbie!" someone shouted from below deck, "Ye bastard! Get off ye feet before Fane turns ye into swiss cheese!"
"You are a snitch." Anto responded.
group
Fane opened her eyes and growled lowly, pushing herself to her feet while simultaneously wiping away most traces of her tears. She stalked towards the sound of the voices.
"You're disobeying direct orders from 3 superiors now," Mumchance said to the small man, who had his hands on his hips.
"Do you want me to relieve myself on the bed?" Anto asked.
group
"If you don't want to piss yourself," Fane said as she ducked past Mumchance and stalked over to Anto—and boy did she look pissed, "then don't be disobeying direct orders and make it known you need somewhere to go. This is a pirate ship, not a palace. Modesty was thrown out the window the moment you stepped foot on the deck."
'Modesty doesn't apply when I am more worried about getting an infection from the bacteria in the piss getting into the wounds in my leg," he said back, shaking his head. "Besides, how am I supposed to let someone know when I cannot get up?"
group
"Wait two seconds or holler," she snapped, then grabbed his arm and pulled him away from Mumchance, giving the new second mate an 'I've got this' look.
"Yelling is a bit iffy with this much pressure in my bladder," he responded, gladly leaning against her. It was becoming a familiar motion.
