Willow curled up on the bed, remembering……..Flashes of laughing and popsicles and a hot summer's day filled her mind. Willow and Abasi. Well, everyone called him Major. It was one of her happiest memories, sitting on the porch stairs on front of the house, eating popsicles that Major's aunt had given them. They'd chased each other and played and got their fingers sticky and juice ran down their chins. "C'mon Major!" Willow'd laughed, running down that street. Of course, he followed, screaming and yelling and laughing as he chased her. His thick dreadlocks waved in the air and the sun glinted off of his dark skin. Unfortunately, her happiest memory was also her worst.

16 years old, but still playing tag on that porch, Willow should've known something was up. Abasi never played tag with her again after they turned 12. He pulled at the flower crown on his head, "Hey Wil, let's go to Auntie's?"
Willow had laughed, "Heck yeah!" she should've said no. Major shouldn't have offered. If she could redo that day, she would've stopped it. Stopped Major in the middle of his sentence, suggested they go home. She should've said no.
