Chelsea scooted back a little, not too far but far enough so the paint on Cade wouldn’t get on her.
"I had friends here that abandoned me as soon as they found out what I could do." Harper argued.

Cade was tempted to jump in and answer Harper's question, but he stayed silent. He noticed Chelsea move and glared at her, pointing to the paint on him.
"Well, then they're not real friends. We wouldn't be scared of you just because you had a power, because we know you wouldn't use it on us. It would be like you being scared of me for being able to shoot with a crossbow. Yes, I can do it and it's dangerous, but I wouldn't do it to you.", Sacrlet reasoned calmly.
Chelsea shrugged apologetically, and offered him the handkerchief.
Harper smiled. "You make an excellent point, Scarlet. What did I do to deserve a friend like you?"
"I think I'm the one who should be asking that question.", she said quietly, finishing the french braid in Harper's hair. "There we go."

She shrugged again, and continued playing with it.
Harper smiled. "Thanks! Let me do it to yours now." She said, sitting up.
Scarlet obliged, a nostalgic smile on her face. "Remember the flower crowns we made from the forget-me-nots in the valley?", she asked her two best friends.
