(welll…..that took longer than expected. Guess I don't actually have time tonight, sorry ^^;)
Role-play where we get drafted into the army, and bad things start to go down (CLOSED)
(That's okay fren! I had to stay at work longer then expected. Say hi to Holly for me!)
(I did! She says hi back ^^ I'm here for a while by the way)
(Alrighty!)
"G'night Vin." Ellen said, grabbing her book and penlight before pulling the cover over her head.
The next morning, the trumpet sounded before the sun was up. Vin scrunched up his face and almost fell back asleep, then remembered where he was and sat up with a groan. "Ugh, I hope they don't make us to training first thing…but the probably will. You awake, Ellen?"
"I am now." She muttered, rolling out of bed.
Vin got dressed, still with his eyes half-shut. "Any thoughts about the sich with with Davy while you were asleep? I think I dreamed about him. He ate all my snacks and then threw a tank at me."
"Lovely." She peered down at herself. She had spent the night in her clothes, and they looked decent enough to wear another day. "I still think we shouldn't trust him. At all."
"For now, I agree. Shall we go? I hear the drills starting."
"Yeah." Ellen nodded.
The light was dim and greyish outside, and the air was chilly. Soldiers were walking by in groups, and in one corner of the yard there was a drill sergeant barking commands at a group of recruits. Vin looked around, unsure. "I… have no idea where we're supposed to go."
"Me either. They didn't bother elaborating on routines yesterday and yet somehow this is going to magically be our faults." Ellen muttered, shivering slightly.
"Ummm…" Vin caught sight of an officer walking by and hailed her. "Excuse me, ma'am? We're Team 300, and we never got told where to go this morning. Is there somebody who could help us?"
She paused and glanced at them. "If you're from the new group that came in yesterday, you go to the East training yard and report to Sergeant Sully. He'll take it from there. Better hurry, or you'll be late."
"Thank you ma'am." They hurried across to the training yard.
(My replies will slow down but I'm still here)
They got there and joined the line of soldiers just in the nick of time. Sergeant Sully was an imposing man with greying hair and a menacing squint. He looked them up and down rather scornfully, then moved on.
"Starting today and continuing until the war ends," he boomed abruptly, "I will train you in the ways of combat. No doubt you think you're already tough, well-trained guys and girls who can take on anything. Well, guess what. You're wrong!" He yelled the last word, making a few soldiers flinch. "By the time I'm done with you, you'll be so fit and ferocious that your own mothers wouldn't recognize you! Now, line up in rows of two and start jogging! I want you to run fifteen laps before sunup, you hear me? Move!"
(Ok :)
Ellen followed the other soldiers in forming lines, biting back a comment on the officer's spiel.
Vin had woken up a bit more by this time. When Sully wasn't looking, he gave Ellen a thumbs up and a cheery grin. "Running isn't so bad," he whispered as they started off. "At least it gets your blood pumping."
"Yeah." She smiled slightly, feeling her body wake up more as they ran.
One hour later, the recruits were feeling a little less upbeat. Sully watched them like a hawk from the center of the yard, refusing to let them stop. Vin seemed to have settled into a daydream, running without really focusing on it.
Finally, Sully unfolded his arms. "All right, you maggots can stop now!"
Ellen stopped, breathing heavily. "Oi. I think I've got a stitch in my side."
Vin blinked and shook his head to clear it, pushing his hair out of his eyes. "I'm starving, it's ridiculous. Just once I'd like to do something physical and not burn every calorie at once."
"Yeah, my stomach is hating me." Ellen puled a ponytail holder out of a pocket and pulled her hair back.
"Breathe into the pain," Vin suggested. "It'll help a little."
"All right, you lily-children!" Sully roared at that moment. "Breakfast starts now and ends in fifteen minutes! Run your little butts over to the mess hall and be back here before the bell rings or I'll come and drag you back myself!"
(brb, eating supper right quick)
(Okee)
Ellen bit back a retort, jogging in the direction of the mess hall, her body screaming at her for doing so.
(Gtg for now. Sis is kicking me off the computer :( See ya!)
(Okay seeya XD)
The exhausted recruits poured into the building and took seats at the long tables. Someone at the end got the plates of food and passed them down to everyone else. Vin took his plate, stared at it dubiously for a moment, then sighed and ate the whole thing in three minutes. "I gotta say, I hate how these are probably full of chemicals and fake nutrients, but at the same time I'm glad they are because otherwise I'd never make it on a ration this small."
(I'm off to bed now, catch ya later ^^)
(See ya!)
(I'm here for a while if you are)
(Yup!)
Ellen nodded, wolfing down her food.
