Role-play where we get drafted into the army, and bad things start to go down (CLOSED)

"It would be totally fine if you weren't, but that's good to know." Vin grinned. "By the way, I think we might be able to start looking for a place to shelter for the rest of the night. The camp's pretty far back now, and I don't think we're being followed anymore."

Ellen nodded. "Maybe a bit father. Just to be safe."

Destroy took a deep breath, testing the air. "There's a river up ahead. No humans or other Deorns that I can smell."
"Okay," Vin said. "Maybe we can find a place somewhere near there, or at least we can cross it to put more distance between us and the army."

"Sounds good." Ellen shouldered her bag. "Let's go."

They walked for another twenty minutes or so before the sound of rushing water reached their ears. Soon the source came into sight, looking more like a staircase of waterfalls than a river as it cascaded down the hill. The frothy water gave off an icy chill, adding to the cold they already felt.
Vin looked at it reluctantly. "Umm….I don't know about you guys, but I'm not too fond of the idea of crossing that right now. Or any time, actually. We could get hypothermia and freeze to death."
Destroy stepped forward unconcernedly. "Ah, it's not that bad. Get on my back." He shifted back into the giant lion and looked at them expectantly.

Ellen smiled slightly, climbing on.

Destroy waited until they were both settled, then gathered himself and leaped powerfully right over the river. His front paws hit the bank, but his hind paws slipped a little and he splashed into the water before quickly scrambling back out. Vin hopped off with relief and took a few steps away from the river. "Thanks, man. That might have taken us all night without your help."
Destroy shook his mane. "Mmh. Yep. Now come on, I see a cave up there a bit."

"Awesome." She followed Destroy.

(Just putting it out there by the way, I hope you don't mind me basically taking control of the roleplay like this, if you'd like to add or change something at any point feel free ^^)
Sure enough, there was a large cave not far away that seemed to be unoccupied. Destroy checked it out first, then said it was safe and let them in after him. Right away Vin started scooping together the dead leaves and twigs on the floor to maybe start a fire. "We shouldn't make a big fire in case it gets spotted, but I think we could all use the warmth. Hopefully this stuff burns okay."

(Okay :)
Ellen sat down and nodded. "I think I've got a lighter we can use."

"Thanks," Vin said.
"You'll need more sticks than that," Destroy noticed, and headed back outside. "I'll go get some."
"Thanks to you too," Vin called after him. "I don't know about you, Ellen, but I could get used to having a giant scary mom-friend like him hanging around."

Ellen grinned, nodding. "I wonder how the army found Destroy and the others?"

"Who knows…." Vin thought about it. "I hate to say it, but Deorns don't seem too bright. And those chemicals to keep them from changing form were pretty effective. So honestly as long as you were pretty clever, I'll bet it's not that hard to catch them."
(off to bed, seeya later ^^)

(See ya!)

(I'm here for a while next)

(Did I miss you?)

(nope! ^^)

Ellen nodded. "I'm still wondering how and where they found them."

"Yeah…He was pretty vague about where he lived…." Vin pulled up his collar and leaned against the cave wall. "I guess we can ask, when he gets back."
"Ask me what?" Destroy inquired, having just returned with a large armful of branches.

"Where did you live before the jarheads nabbed ya? I mean, Deorns aren't common knowledge where I'm from." Ellen said, pulling out her lighter. "Does anyone have paper for kindling?"

Destroy dropped the wood into a rough pile and held his hand out over it. A slow red flame appeared out of nowhere and latched onto the branches, crackling loudly. Destroy dusted some soot off his hand and sat with his back blocking the cold air from the cave entrance.
"I come from somewhere south of here," he said. "I dunno where we are now, so I don't know how far it is. My territory was part of a prairie with a river going through it. No humans for miles."

He shape shifts and has fire powers. What else? Ellen nodded, putting her lighter back into the bag. "Hmm. Tomorrow Vin and I should try and find a nearby town, and get map so we know where we are exactly."

(I gtg pray quick)

(Aright)
"Yeah," Vin said. "We also need to find some civilian clothes so people don't know we're army dropouts. And some more food. And whatever else we don't have in our backpacks already."

(I'm back!)
Ellen murmured her agreement, pulling out her sleeping bag.
