"Let's head that way then." Ellen stated, walking off in that direction.
Role-play where we get drafted into the army, and bad things start to go down (CLOSED)
Lennie strolled after her. "Okii-dokii then."
Vinyan spotted two people walking inside and went over to them, having asked what felt like the entire army by now. "Hi there," he said. "I'm looking for an Ellen and Lennie? My name's Vinyan."
"Hey, yo! That's us," Lennie said with a smile, offering his hand. "Nice to meet ya."
Ellen scrutinized Vinyan. Yep. Mr. Social Butterfly himself. "That's us." She echoed, folding her arms.
"Hi." Vinyan offered a smile and shook Lenni's hand. "Just call me Vin by the way, everyone does."
(We gtg now, back in a few hours >w<)
"Great." Lennie returned the hand-shake. "You can call me Lenn if you want. How about you?" he turned to Ellen.
(Okay, see ya!)
"Just call me Ellen. Or Weaver." She said, arms still crossed.
"Well….now that's settled……" Vin glanced around at the room. "I wonder why they divided us up like that. Seems like it would have been better to make the groups bigger, so it would be easy to keep track of them."
(Back~)
"Alrighty, Weaver!" Lennie said with a grin. "Let's go, we've got a commander to report to."
Ellen nodded, following Lennie and Vin.
Vin waved at a group of soldiers going the other direction. "So, either of you two heard anything about the war? It's been a long time since the drafting. Maybe there will be no war after all, and they're just making us reconfigure to stall for time."
Ellen shook her head. "All I know is that tension was escalating like hell, and next thing I know, I'm drafted."
Lennie shrugged. "All I know is that the fighting's gotten really bad by Canada. There's still no official news regarding the mandatory recruits, as far as I know, or weather or not they'll need us. I'd guess something must be u, though, since they seemed so eager to match us up."
Vin sighed. "Yeah, I try not to keep track of current events because it just made me upset and things usually seemed to work out by themselves. I'm actually pretty surprised the drafting officers were able to find my desert hideaway–I mean, uh, hermitage."
Ellen arched an eyebrow. "Hermitage?"
"Right. I like living alone, and modern life doesn't really interest me. I tried to tell them that fighting was against my religion or whatever, but they weren't kidding about it being mandatory. So…here I am." He sighed again. "I hope my pets are doing okay."
Okay, so probably not one of those ones that's a literal cave like in the old stories Mom used to read.
"What kind of pets do you have?" She asked.
Lennie gave Vin a pat on the shoulder. "For the record, I didn't wanna be here either, bud. I got family back home. I managed to help them hide, but the military caught up to me." He shrugged. "We'll get out, and we'll find 'em again."
"Weeell, they're not really my pets, just some animal friends that I share breakfast with sometimes. There's a little coyote I call Suzy, a couple lizards, a really old jack rabbit, and sometimes a kestrel that nests a few miles away. They're great company, as long as they don't try to eat each other. A turtle used to come around, but him and Suzy got in a fight and it ended badly." He shook his head sadly. "My cave had bits of shell and fur in the corners for weeks. Sorry, uh, anyway." He coughed. "You guys have any pets?"
Okay, he lived in an actual cave. Wow. "I had a cat named Katherine for the longest time. I called her Kat for short." Ellen smiled fondly at the memory.
"Nope," Lennie said. "Was gonna get a dog, but then the war started so….One of my buddies had two snakes though. Arial and Roomba. They were cute."
"Nice. Here's hoping the war only last a short while and we can get reunited with our friends, pets, and families real soon."
Ellen nodded. "Yup."
"Here, here," Lennie agreed. He pushed open the doors to the lunch hall, and held them for Ellen and Vin. Inside, groups of soldiers were moving about, coming or going. It was clear you all hadn't been called here to eat. General Alicia and her top commanders sat at tables set up on one wall. Captain Rau, one of the trainers, looked up as they entered and beckoned you over.
"Squad 300?" he inquired.
"That's us," Vin said.
"Okay, you guys are being moved to Camp Four," Rau said, looking at the papers on his table. "The cars to pick you up will be leaving in an hour, so make sure you're down by training area 1 by then. They'll take you to the trains, and from there another set of cars will take you to the camp. Once you're there, they'll tell you more of what you need to know."
Ellen nodded.
"Oh, I'd better get packed," Vin said. "Meet you guys there?"
"Yeah. See ya then." Ellen made her way back to her tent. She grabbed what few clothes she had and began stuffing them in her duffel bag.
