"Oh no. But Callie is desperately trying to set the two of us up. It's embarrassing. I don't like him like that." But her blush gave her away.

@blue_topaz

River shot her a teasing grin, thinking of her own girlfriend back at home with a nostalgic gleam in her blue-gray eyes.

@Natasha

Cassie grabbed another fish. "So what grade are you in?"

@blue_topaz

“10th, you?”

@Natasha

"Same here." Cassie had, surprisingly, run out of things to say. "Do you like music?" She asked. This is such a lame question She told herself.

@blue_topaz

River smiled. “I don’t listen to many bands, but my girlfriend composes a lot f music.”, she replied, almost daring Cassie to say something about her homosexuality.

@Natasha

Cassie smiled. "That's nice. I sing a lot, but, I haven't really written any original music. My grandfather likes to listen to me sing. Says that it reminds him of my mom." Cassie took a deep breath.

@blue_topaz

River smiled. “Whereabouts are you from?”

@Natasha

"Orlando, Florida. But I'm half-Cherokee on my mother's side, and my dad is–was Spanish. "

@blue_topaz

River was silent for a moment. “I’m sorry for your loss.”, she said quietly, her own parents faces swimming through her vision.

@Natasha

Cassie nodded. "Car accident. You lost your parents too?" Cassie asked.

@blue_topaz

River swallowed. “My sisters too.”, she croaked. “The plane crash. I buried their bodies yesterday.” A single year trickled down her face as she averted her eyes, unfocused and scared.

@Natasha

Cassie gave River a comforting hug. "I'm sorry. I can't even imagine how hard that was for you." She said softly.

@blue_topaz

River couldn’t speak as silent tears rolled down her cheeks. Thankful for the comfort, she closed her m eyes for a moment.

@Natasha

Cassie let go of River and lifted her chin so that she could look into Cassie's eyes. "We've all lost someone. Over half of the people we can with are either dead or missing."

@blue_topaz

River nodded, wiping the tears from her face, embarrassed. She was right. She shouldn’t have let her emotions get away from hehim like that. “Thanks Cassie.”, she croaked, spotting a fish downstream. “Let’s start fishing.”

@Natasha

Cassie smiled slyly. "First one to catch five wins!" And she took off before River could protest.

@blue_topaz

“You’re on!”, River shot back with a grin, rubbing her hands together. Seeing a good catch, she swung both her hands down, scooping up two salmon just like her grandpa had taught her. She stuck her tongue out at Cassie.

@Natasha

Cassie held up two fish for River to see. Then she tossed them onto the shore near Kirsten and Matthew, and then went back to catch more.

@blue_topaz

They went on like this for 20 minutes, Cassie eventually winning by one.

@Natasha

Cassie collapsed on the bank, laughing. "That was fun."

@Natasha

Silently Cassie wondered where the others had disappeared off to.

@Turzelle

Callie found the bandages she needed for her bleeding hands. She tried to wrap them the best she could. It was sloppy, but it did the trick. She tried to hide her hands in her sleeves so no one could see them.
She practiced smiling. Nothing was wrong. No one died. Her sister was out there waiting to be found. Her sister is alive.

@Natasha

Cassie took a deep breath. "Okay. We should probably go find the others."

@blue_topaz

River nodded, following Cassie.

Mila

Kirsten rose to her feet, now dry, and walked up to Callie who was bandaging her hands. "Want any help?" she asked.

@Natasha

Cassie spotted Callie and Kirsten. "Oh thank goodness." She walked over to them.

Mila

"Hey Cass. Success with the fish?"

@Natasha

"Yeah. We caught a lot."
