River set up a small fire in a clear are, near the river, and began to cook the 12 or so fish they’d caught.
It seems no one noticed that Callie cried earlier. That’s good. That’s means she didn’t look like a mess, despite feeling like one. She turned around and counted the people around the fire.
“Where’s Pine?” Callie mumbled.
"I was wondering the same thing." Cassie mused.

“I left him in the forest! We were collecting supplies and-” Callie cut herself off, not wanting to remember what happened.
