Zander gaped. "You are so mean," He said exasperated." I can't be mad at you because you saved a little girl, but I can't be happy because of the danger you were in." Zander stood quiet a moment, then said. "No more over the top risks please."

"I can't promise, but I'll try my best, okay?" Dani said, stepping towards Zander and looking up at him.

"Okay." Zander said, leaning forward, and kissing her forehead.

Dani's heart pounded as Zander kissed her forehead. You need to tell her. Tell her now and get it over with so that she knows.

Zander looked down at her, "Are you okay, you look like you're dreading something." Zander stopped,"Oh my gossh is it my breath ?" He quickly breathe-checked.

Dani sighed and leaned against Zander. "I hate having to do this."

Zander stopped his rushing thoughts, wrapped his arms around Dani and said softly." I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about, but I'm here for you."

"You ever have to break some bad to news to a sweet kid who won't even understand what you mean?"

Zander straightened and his arms slackened slightly,"No," He said softly and full of regret." I was the one who made the bad news."

Dani sighed. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean….."

"No, don't worry about," Zander said,taking in a breathe. He coughed lose a lump in his throat, and thought of ways to change the subject." Who are those two guys out there?"

"Don't know. I'm assuming they're friends of Macha and Sabine though. Come on. I have to tell Mackenzie something and can't do it by myself."

"Okay, I'll be right behind you." Zander said going over to and opening the door for her.

Ace couldn't sleep, he had insomnia, like he always had. After a while of pretending he couldn't escape from the bonds, Ace got up and pulled on a shirt, asking for directions towards the cafeteria to eat cheeseburgers, all the while praying his stubble would make him unrecognizable.

Dani walked out of the room, dreading what she had to say.

Zander walked behind her, almost solemn, until they found Mackenzie.

Mackenzie brightened and ran up, hugging both Dani and Zander around the waist.

The cheeseburger tasted good, but his stomach started bleeding again. "What an inconvenience." Ace said, staring at his open wound in the middle of his chest that he didn't bother to cover up with a shirt. Ace noticed some people staring at him, they must think I'm cute. So he flashed a smile and waved, completely oblivious to the fact that they were staring at his bloody wound.

Zander picked Mackenzie up in a hug and sat her in his arms,"Hey, Mackenzie."

Mackenzie suddenly asked, "Dani, where's my daddy?" Dani tightened her grip on Zander's hand. Then she looked the little girl in the eye. She choked back a sob. "Zie-Zie–your dad, he's not coming back." Mackenzie cocked her head to the side. "What do you mean?"

Zander felt a lump well up in his throat again and he kept his grip on Dani's hand. A small tear made its way down his cheek.

Kenzie suddenly understood what she meant. Tears rolled down her cheeks and she laid her head on Zander's shoulder.

Zander held the little girl tighter to him and pulled Dani into a comforting hug.

Dani cried into Zander's shoulder. You are worthless Dani.

Zander rested his head softly on Dani's and kept the little girl tucked close."It's okay, it's okay." He said soothing them both indiscriminately.
