He flinched with surprise, eyes flicking up, "Fae?"

“Hey. I called, but you weren’t answering and I got a bit worried. Sorry.”
He brought his hand to brush grass from the back of his head, "No, it's cool. I shouldn't have fallen asleep," he yawned, "Chiggers, and.. stuff like that," he stood up, brushing grass and dirt off himself.
“I overreacted. What are chiggers?”
"Grass bugs that make you itch," he replied back absently.
She chuckled. “Typical.” Lying down in the grass next to him, she tilted her head so she could see him properly.
His expression stayed relaxed, but now with the vaguest tinge of guilt and heaviness.
Fae studies”d his face for a moment. “Something’s wrong, isn’t it?”, she asked gently.
"I don't want it to be." He sighed, lying back down on the grass despite his vague concern over chiggers.
“What is it?” Her voice was quiet.
He drew a hand through his hair, "'ma'all shaky n'.." he mumbled reluctantly.
“I can’t undertand mumbling.”, she told him gently.
He exhaled sigh, "It's not important."
“If it’s upsetting you, then it is. You don’t have to tell me.”
"I'm becoming anxious over you."
Fae’s brow furrowed in confusion. “I’m not sure I understand.”
"I don't either. It's like my nonexistant intuition just woke up one morning to torture me, and I can't stop thinking about you, thinking something bad will happen…"
“Hey, you don’t need to worry about me.”, she reassured him softly, taking his hand in hers. “I’m safe, I’m healthy. What could possibly happen?”

"Anything," he croaked, "Anything could happen."
She squeezed his hand gently. “But it won’t happen. I promise.”

He pressed a palm against her cheek, "You are my happiness."
Her eyes shone, melting with affection, and she scooted closer. “And you are my saviour.”
He laughed quietly, "That's an audacious claim to say to a Catholic,"
She smirked, leaning forward to kiss him gently.
"Mm." He sighed happily.
She pulled away, keeping her nose lightly touching his. “Better now?” Her eyes sparkled in the light of the setting sun.
"Sure…" he murmured.
Far wasn’t convinced, and a glimmer of worry appeared in her eyes. “Cruz, please believe me when O say I’ll be fine.”
"Can you stay the night with me?" He asked out of the blue.
Everything around Fae seemed to slow to a stop. “H-how come?”
