Tay raised an eyebrow, "Who's they?"
He had her cornered. “Um…… that’s why I ran from the cafeteria yesterday, that’s why I moved away earlier on.” She avoided the question once more.
"And, who did that?" Tay was getting frustrated, "If you don't tell me, I'll-I'll kiss you in front of everyone here!"

This made Vera stop. Please do Id like tha— she cut the thought off. “Bridge.”, she said, defeated.
"Bridge?" Tay creased his eyebrows, "Bridge?"
Vera nodded.
"Woah. Bridge. What'd she say to you?"
“Remember the arcade? She saw.”
Tay cocked his head, "So?"
“So….. she threatened to go to the police and take you to court if I didn’t stay away from you.” Vera slid a little farther away.
"Why would I get taken to court because of that?" Tay slid closer.
Vera slid away again, desperation rising. “Because we broke in, you were involved but didn’t do anything bad, break ins are illegal, and we have no proof stating you didn’t do anything.”
"It's going to be okay. Bridge wouldn't do that to me." Tay frowned, "We're friends."
“I just don’t want to hurt you.” Vera slid back again, wanting more than anything to come closer.
"But you're not going to." Tay slid even closer.
“You don’t know that. Even if Bridge doesn’t do anything, I’ll still be hurting you.” She slid back again, but hit the wall, cornered.
"How?" Tay asked, confused.
“I— I’m not a good person, Tay.”
"Yes you are." Tay brightened, "Vera sounds like Veritaserum which is good. The truth serum." his gaze softened, "You're my truth."

Vera’s heart faltered. “The truth is ugly. The truth hurts.”, she said bitterly.
"But the truth is always there and it is a relief to those hiding in the shadow of lies."
“And the truth stings, slaps you in the face, strangles you. I’ve lied, I’ve done bad things, Tay. I’m not good enough for you, or anyone.”
"It's better to have a hurtful truth then an painless lie." Tay whispered, sliding closer.
Vera was backed up against the wall as far as she could go. “But I’m not the truth. I’m a lie, and one that hurts. I’ve hurt others, I don’t want to hurt you.”
"No one can hurt me. I'm indestructible." Tay joked.
