Max shuffled out of his room and into the kitchen. He grabbed a glass and filled it with tap water.

James was already awake reading a text book. He didn’t even register Max’s presence.

"Hey Jamie. Up already?"

James popped his head away from his text book momentarily, “Yes I am up. I am reading.”

"I can see." Max took a sip of his water. "Did you have a restful night?"

“Yes I slept well.” He paused, “Except for When Darcie slammed a door and scared me.” He said turning the page.

"Really? Darcie was here?" Max looked at him quizzically.

“Yes she came up to apologize for slamming the door. She was afraid it might have woke me when she slammed a door downstairs.”

"Oooohhhh okay. I wasn't sure." Max raised an eyebrow. "I thought she was here for something else."

“What else would she be here for?” He said finally looking up from the book.

"Oh….I don't know…." Max smirked.

“I suppose your confidence, though desperate and annoying, is better than constant self deprecation.” He looked back to his book.

"I wasn't talking about myself James."

“Then who are you referring to?”
