“A joke?”

"Yeah. It's not an actual dump." He chuckled. "My room comes pretty close though."
“Metaphorical,” he repeated to himself.
"Those tiles with that trim you have got to be pulling on my leg!" Max rolled his eyes at the woman on t.v.
"Yeah. It's not an actual dump." He chuckled. "My room comes pretty close though."
"Yeah, what are you, smoking weed in there or something?" she joked.
He blinked. "Caught me red handed. No actually I just don't pick up after myself."
"Well, I'm vaccuming tomorrow, so clean your s-h-i-t up"
“You really should, excess bacteria causes illness and leads to cancer.”
"Cancer runs in my family." Ellis said bluntly. "You better not touch my marble collection."
Amanda nodded and raised her eyebrow at Max.
“Why do have a marble collection,”
"Cus they're pretty." Max shrugged.
“You sound like a child,” James sighed.
“When do we get our new pipes?” He asked changing the subject.

A loud slam came from downstairs, followed by a barely audible "Oh, dang it –"
James jumped, “What was that?”

Another door creaked open, then ever so quietly shut.
“Darcie?” He said slightly louder than usual.

"Oy," came from the room below, very faintly. For a minute, there was silence, then came a quiet knocking on the door.
James got up and answer the door. “Hey”

"Oh, hi, I didn't think you'd still be awake –" Darcie started, then grimaced and whispered, "I didn't wake you up, did I?"
“No you did not wake me up, I was awake.” He stepped aside, “Do you want to come in?”
language
"Oh, um – sure!" she stammered, stepping timidly inside.
“This place is not a dump,” he smiled and closed the door.
language
"Well, it does look nice…" She trailed off, yawning.
“What was the commotion about downstairs?” He asked walking back to the couch.
language
"I accidentally slammed the front door," she explained bashfully, rubbing her nose.
