Darren had been awake for a long time, just staring at his ceiling. He decided to get his phone to talk to someone.
Hey Brody… What are you doing today?

School dude, what are you doing? Skipping practice again?

Darren sighed, No, I'll be there… See you later He put his phone down waited for Lillian.

Lillian had at least ten new bruises and was walking out the door. She sighed and was happy for the new day.

Darren eventually got bored and decided to take matters into his own hands and call Lillian. He dialed her number and waited…

Lillian picked up, 'Ello?

"Hello there, how are you doing this fine morning?" Darren said a smile on his face from hearing Lillian's voice.

Lillian smiled, "I'm doing great, and how about you kind sir?"

"Oh exquisitely! Are we going over by Lloyd today?"

"Yep! I mean I kind of told him we would."

Darren sighed, "Never know… You could've changed your mind or something, I don't know."

"You don't have to come with ya know? I can go by myself."

"No it's fine," Darren winced, "I wanna be there for him."

"Okay, just know you're not required to okay?"

"Yeah, okay." Darren smiled, "You want me to come pick you up?"

Lillian's smile came back, "That would be great."

"I'll be there in like 5 or 10 minutes, okay?"

Darren pushed himself out of bed and got dressed as quickly as he could and basically ran to his car. He pulled in front of Lillian's house 7 minutes later, as predicted.
