Darren chuckled loudly and quickly found a place to hide in the bathroom closet despite his size.

She pulled him slightly closer. "It's okay buddy. Here, I'll be right back." She ruffled his hair and went back downstairs, crossing her arms with a frown. "What the hell is going on down here?! You're scaring Austin!" She scolded.

“Sorry!” Darren yelled from his hiding place. “I’ll be quieter!”

Lillian found Darren, "Blame Darren! He started this, and I'm finishing it!"

She huffed angrily. "Just keep it down, I don't expect to come back down here and if I do then it won't be good for anybody." She turned on her heel and headed back upstairs.

Austin had his knees to his chest and his hands over his ears as he rocked back and forth.

She sat next to him and hugged him close. "It's okay buddy, everything's alright." She kept her voice quiet and soft. He was scared enough as it is.

He didn’t move from his ball and he continued trying to rock. The noise and the squeezing, it was all very overwhelming.

She kept her touch light, not trying to constrict him. "It's okay, just relax." You're such a mom. Shut up. Small child in pain.

“32, 12, 9,” steps from the car to the front door, amount of steps on the stairs, steps from the top of the stairs to the bed. All things he unconsciously counted.

(My dad starting playing Guns and Ships cause he was checking it out and I subconsciously just yelled 'LAFAYETTE!' at the top of my lungs. Now my parents think I'm insane.)
"Shh, it's alright." She tightened her grip slightly, he seemed to be calming down.

(Lol my mom stopped thinking I was insane awhile ago. She knows now)

He moved his hands from his ears hesitantly, eventually letting them wrap around Belle.

His breathing had evened out and his heart racing had calmed down a bit, he relaxed in her arms when he realized the loud noise was gone.

She rubbed his back lightly. "Everything's okay."

Lillian sighed and shook her head, "Why can't I say mad at you? You giant man child."

He giggled and stayed in the closet. He truly was a child.

"People are more important than paperwork." She chuckled.
