“Belle,” he said, his voice expressed many emotions and mostly stress.

She stayed by the stairs, leaning against the railing and giving no indication that she was there.

"I-I'm sorry," Lillian looked down, "At least she's here."

“Yeah. If it wouldn’t be for magic she’d be dead. As you can tell, I’m thrilled about the subject,” he said dryly.

"Extremely thrilled," Lillian responded in an identical dry tone.

“I just don’t know anymore. “ he sighed.

Neither do I. She chewed on her lip lightly.

"It'll get better," Lillian said with a slight smile. Like she really believed it.

Mhmm, sure, let's go with that Lillian. She rolled her eyes.

“I’m sure,” he mumbled like he really didn’t believe it.

Sorry my mental problems are causing you such stress. I thought you wanted to help me get over them. She dropped her gaze to the floor, slightly sad.

Lillian didn't believe the shit she had just said. She felt her role right now was to be with them and be hopeful. Even if she didn't think so herself.

“It bothers me that I’m not enough to help her anymore,” Ryan sighed. “I used to be enough,”

"If you two are done talking about me, I'd like to get on with my life, thanks." She clipped her voice of the guilt she felt for causing him stress.

Lillian looked over at Belle. Shit! "Hi Belle, I didn't know you had come down."

"Clearly." She cleared her throat, pulling her braid over her shoulder.

Lillian gave her a little smile, "So how are you doing?"

"About as good as I can. Which, in turn, is not very."

Ryan sighed and walked over to her. He looked up at her with a light smile.

Lillian softly laughed, "Well it's better than the alternative."

She shrugged, working up a small smile. "It's whatever." Death would be easier than this.

“Easier but not better,” Darren smiled at Belle knowingly.
Ryan just reached up for her hand.

Sometimes it seems like it. She shook her thoughts away and took his hand gently.

Lillian looked at Darren curiously, "Are you doing the thing again?"

Darren smiled and nodded, “Sorry,”

"It's fine," Lillian shrugged.

“Hey Darren, can you take your brother home with you?” Ryan looked over at Cooper, still dead asleep. Darren snickered, “Yeah…”

Lillian looked at Cooper snickering, "How long as he been like this?"
