Lillian stood off to the side watching. She figured Doc wouldn’t mind her doing this.

Lillian thought for a second, “Nope, unless it’s to help you pick a song. Then do some alt rock or something that really shows your vocal range.”

"Alt rock. I think I've got a great song." Cassie said, straightening her shoulders just a bit as she apparently ran through the lyrics in her head. "When your day is long, and the night, the night is yours alone. When you're sure you've had enough, of this life, well hang on." She started, voice just a bit rough, like it hadn't been used in a while, but smoothing out as she sang P!nk's Everybody Hurts.

Lillian made mental notes as Cassie sang. The girl wasn’t that bad, a lit better than Rachel and some of the others.

Cassie shoved her hands in her pockets as she sang the last verse, eyes flickering to an empty spot in the rows. And she almost seemed to wink. "Haven't done that in a while." She said simply, turning her gaze back to Lillian.

Laura listened carefully and found herself trapped in the lyrics that came do silkily out of Cassie's mouth.

“It was quite good actually,” Lillian told the other honestly, “Not great, but not just good either.”

Cassie gave a quick nod, hopping down off the stage. "Dropping off voice lessons does that."

(Right, I found a way to suppress the urges to burst out singing. It's now 1:57 in the morning and I've been bawling my eyes out for the past half hour because I'm listening to a piano cover of Can't Help Falling In Love With You and imagining sad things and I'm dying.)
