Asura gave him a smile. "I can't taste anything," he replied bitterly.

"Oh. My apologies." Walked right into that one, idiot, he though to himself. "Anything else I can do for you, then?"

He glared at the man, the aura around him burning bright. "Why are you still talking to me? What do you want from me? If you're looking for Lucifer, I'm not him, and I have no idea where he is right now." Asura internally flinched at his demeanor. He was actually overjoyed to be talking to somebody other than a demon.

Mike sat back and held up his hands. "Hey, chill. I was rude, so I'm trying to make amends. You looked a little lost or bored, is all. Also, I didn't think you were Lucifer. Am I likely to meet him around here? I hadn't even thought of that."

Asura shrugged. "It's hard to say. He likes to jump from dimension to dimension, and despite being his brother, I never really know where he is." He looked down at his boots.

"Mm. I get it." Mike nodded at the chair opposite his. "Why don't you sit down? My name's Mike. I'm from Earth."

Asura's eyes lit up at the word. "Earth? Isn't that the place that humans live?" He asked excitedly.

"It's the only place I know of that has humans, yeah."

He sat next to Mike, suddenly full of energy. "I've never been to Earth before. Lucifer doesn't like me going there, he says that I'll disturb the balance of good and evil in that universe… but I've always wanted to check it out." He sat up a little straight and ran a hand through his hair. "I'm in my human form now. Do you think I could pass as normal on Earth?" The golden light that radiated from him was stronger than ever, and even gave an electrical feel to the air.

Mike gave him a slightly amused look. "Well, you're doing fine except for the aura. You might want to turn it down if you can." He took a sip of coffee. "So if you're Lucifer's brother…what kinda being does that make you, exactly? If it's not rude to ask."

Just for reference, the blue stuff from this guy's hands is what Asura's aura looks like, except it's gold with a bit of shimmer

Asura frowned. "Technically, I'm a god. I just don't hold the status, because Lucifer took it from me. Only one of us can be a God," he explained, his bitter tone returning to his voice.

(Daaang awright XDD Good to know)
"Ah, I get it. Why don't you just make yourself a god of something else? Does someone more powerful have to promote you?"

"Exactly right. I have to earn the respect of somebody with a higher status than me. Lucifer could do it, but you know," he waved his hand, gold trailing from his fingertips, "he's an asshole."

Mike grinned slightly at that. "Of course. That makes sense. So, buddy…sorry, don't think I caught your name?"

He smirked, leaning back in his chair. "Some call me the devil, others say I'm the Prince of Darkness… and some call me ridiculous things like Beelzebub." He rolled his eyes at the last one. "But my name is actually Asura."

"Asura. Got it. What do you think of sneaking back to Earth with me and my friend once I'm done with this job? Screw Lucifer. You look like you could use some relaxation." What the heck, Mike, he thought. This is not like you at all. Must be the coffee around here.

(Gotta go to bed now, seeya)

Asura glared at him. "I'm a God, you know. I can sneak to Earth whenever I want, without the help of a lowly human," he growled, remembering his status. "But I like the idea, so I'll take you up on the offer."

(goodnight)

"Great. Maybe we could find a use for you back home. I'm a demon hunter, see, and we can always use an extra set of hands."

He scowled, crossing his arms. "I didn't mention that I was a demon king, did I?"

"Oh, I didn't mean the kind of demon you're thinking. The demons on Earth aren't technically demons. They're closer to werewolves or shapeshifters, actually. But the name stuck. We hunt them because they eat humans." Mike offered Asura a wry smile. "Sorry, shoulda mentioned that earlier. I had no idea I was in the presence of royalty as well as a god."

"I see," he said thoughtfully. "I've heard of those types of demons before. When demons from my universe reproduce, occasionally a human-eating one will pop up. We usually kill or banish them immediately."

"Yeah, we've got a real infestation back home. A few years ago somebody had the bright idea of training them into soldiers–" Mike rolled his eyes. "–and now America's a wasteland with no economy. They're uncontrollable monsters, and the best thing you can do is just leave 'em alone. We hunters have the short end of the stick, having to deal with them."

"That's horrible," Asura said, making a face. "Did the humans have to leave?"

"A lot of them went to Canada or Britain, but most couldn't afford to, or they couldn't get out in time. It was pretty brutal." Mike's eyes became distant. "Some of us lost everything. You can imagine how many people want demons eradicated these days."

"Well," Asura started, a smile creeping onto his face. "I can solve that problem instantly for you, but I'm going to need something from you."

Mike paused. "….Clarify, please."

He smirked. "Like I said, I'm a God. I have unimaginable power. I could destroy all of those demons for you, if you wanted me to," he said, exposing his palm, where the gold aura sparked and twisted in a fury, causing nearly the entire cafe to glow. He closed his hand suddenly, shoving it back in his pocket. "However, I can't access all of my powers without the status of a God. Which means I'm going to need your help to get me there."
