(This is totally random and has nothing to do with anything other than the fact that it's April Fools' Day today…)

(Funny story:
Last night I was babysitting five kids w/my sister, and we were all talking about pranking each other. Skip to 5 am this morning—my sis and I spent the night—my sister noticed one of the boys walk into our room and do something. Not thinking anything of it, she goes back to sleep.

7 AM: We wake up, my sis goes to the door, grabs the handle, and exclaims: "What the heck?!?"
Sticky, light-blue goop all over the door handle… It was toothpaste.
It was also on the railing of the stairs leading down to the basement—where the guest room is—and on the inside door handle of said stairs.)

Dylan, oblivious to Avery's looks of suspicion, pointed to the screen.

"This one," He said, pointing to a picture of an early modern style boat, "we can use this one. Big enough for anyone to land if they need to, small enough for me to summon and not draw too much attention. Plus, it ought to be comfy." He gave a small, sincere smile in Avery's direction, "It even has a small interior. If you think you might need a nap…"

"I'm fine," Avery clipped. She looked over the designs, thereby avoiding Dylan's eyes. "It looks good. I'll Oscar print it out, then we can get to work putting this plan together."

Avery tapped something to Oscar, then climbed out of the car, all while still avoiding Dylan's gaze. Admittedly, she was a little upset about the whole "secret conversation" thing, but she wasn't going to ask about it.

Dylan stepped out of the car while it printed and leaned against the side. It was getting late already, yet the air was moderately warm despite the setting sun. The hustle and bustle of the nearby highway was distant, and drowned out by the sound of Oscar's internal printer. Feeling bored already, he glanced at Avery, who stood nearby looking elsewhere. She had a slightly forelorn look on her face, and she appeared to be deep in thought.

Dylan formed a shadow-ed copy of a paper airplane, forming the code in his head for it to hit her in the shoulder. He let it go, not even bothering to make a throwing motion, and it flew off, doing exactly as he had intended it to do.

Element woke with a start. She was no less tired then before, and the night-mares she had didn't effect the situation in a good way.

Something lightly tapped Avery's shoulder, and she turned around. A shadow-formed paper airplane lay on the hood of the car. She looked at Dylan, cocking an eyebrow.

"Yes?" she questioned flatly. "Is there something you want?"

Vaughn walked back downstairs and glanced out the window, then to Element. “Let me guess,” he said, fidgeting with the sleeve to his button up so it would go over the bandages on his arms. “They are having a moment?”

Element nodded. "But it doesn't looked very happy."

Dylan shrugged and looked down, suddenly afraid to meet her gaze, "Just wondering what you were thinking about. You look kind of…well…out of it." He thought for a minute, and the airplane rose off the ground and back into his hand. "If there's anything bothering you, you can talk to me about it. You know that, yeah?"

“Huh, wonder why,” Vaughn said, more to himself than anything. He glanced back towards the window before moving to take a seat in a chair in the living room.

(He's treating her like a long time high school friend. They just met 48 hours ago. I don't know if that was what I had wanted him to be like, or if that's what I would do. Dylan is actually a bit more of me than I had intended him to be, but it seems to be alright.)

Element looked down. She knew why. And she knew their conversations in private weren't fair to Avery. But also… Avery was jealous? Of her? Did her feelings for Dylan go that far?

(Yeah… Avery's pretty much me… She's literally based off of me, with her friends based on my friends… She gets attached to people quickly.)

Avery shrugged and looked at the sky. Fluffy, white clouds floated across the blueness of it.

"I saw you talking with Lenny," she stated simply, looking back down and casting a glance at Dylan.

Vaughn eyed Element, trying to read her the best he could. But, he kept his mouth shut. He would admit that he was curious, but he knew that Element wasn’t particularly fond if him. He doubted she would tell him what she knew. Then again, maybe that was just his illness telling him excuses. But, as he felt conflicted and confused mentally, he maintained his composure the best he could and held his tongue.

Dylan went cold. If that was what she was worried about, that meant she might have an idea as to Dylan's ties. And while that wouldn't change the fact that Dylan would fight on her side, it might change her view of him.

Then again, he had expected Lenny to gut him as soon as he had mentioned that. Xelnarin had, after all, murdered her parents. So what would it mean to Avery?

"I'm going to guess you wanted to know what we were talking about?" he asked.

"I mean, if you want to tell me about it," Avery shrugged again. Shrugging seemed to be becoming a problem. Suddenly looking up from the ground, she shot him a strange look. "It's nothing about… Um… Nevermind." She shook her head, looking back at her feet.

Dylan looked up, an expression of confusion on his face, "Okay… I don't mind telling you. We were just worried it might… well, you'll see." He stood up straighter and added, "Also, you and I need to have a talk as well. And that needs to be just between you and me. But first, my hellish family. When you and Lenny were researching the Flame, that brought back a few old memories. Ever wondered how I knew Xelnarin's name?" He asked, hoping to lead her to finish the thought.

Avery's head shot up with a sudden realization. "You know him somehow, don't you?" she murmured, glancing at Dylan. A thoughtful look crossed her face, and her eyes widened. "Earlier, you told that guard Xelnarin had two sons. You must be one of them. Oh, why didn't I see it before?!? The Galaxy Stone affecting you the way it did wasn't just some fluke. Gosh, I feel like such an idiot for not thinking of this sooner!" She rubbed her face with her hands, exasperated.

Dylan nodded, "How the stone incident connects to my fa- Xelnarin exactly, I don't know yet. But I know I'm the guy's kid, and I have a brother running around by the name of Ashton Sykes. Not Skylar. Which, funny enough, Sykes happens to be my last name as well, so that's convienient." He chuckled, then threw the airplane again, this time programmed to whirl about in the air, "It's like he almost expects us to meet."
