I take five steps closer until my gun is inches from her chest. "I'm the daughter of a Mafia boss. Of course I've killed." I am completely calm, not afraid of killing this girl in the slightest. "But I'm guessing you haven't. The last time I saw you, your hair was blonde. You're disguised, then, which means you're on the run. A body would attract too much attention, as would your gun going off. I, however, am in disguise on a mission. I would benefit from attention right now." My gaze is steely as I stare her down, trusting that my lies are plausible.

@ConstanceAtticus

"Your petty families plays too safe with you, Adelaide. You're the only daughter of your father's line, he doesn't take you on mission. I've hurt, I've killed, and I'm not afraid to make a scene. I may be on the run, but it's sure as hell not from your family. You should be afraid of me, little Capulet. I have nothing to lose." I sneer. "If you died, it would be the end of the Capulet line. They'd have to start all over again with one of your cousins, and we all know that your cousins lack the spine. You're the one who needs to cut your losses here." I unload my gun and ammunition scatters across the pavement, and then I shove it carelessly back in my purse and arch an eyebrow. "We're done here. Stop following me."

@ConstanceAtticus

"The difference between our families is that the Capulet line are too careful. You make no gain playing the safe side in our business, sweetheart. I've been in the trenches since I was twelve years old."

@ConstanceAtticus

And then I turn on my heel to walk away.

@blue_topaz

With one swift movement, I scoop the bullets up, storing them in my bag and stepping in front of her. "Was that really a smart move, discarding your ammunition?" I step closer. "Why don't we make a deal?", I whisper, my voice low and threatening.

@ConstanceAtticus

"Well let's say you don't particularly frighten me, mio nemico. But I'm intrigued."

@blue_topaz

I cross my arms, unfazed. "I'm looking for something your daddy hid some twenty years ago. Help me find it, and we'll split the loot, 60-40."

@ConstanceAtticus

"60-40, huh? Listen close, Capulet." I step closer, pushing her backward into the wall, cold fury in my veins. "I'm not running from any old Mafia situation here. I'm on the run from my father, Sebastien. He's trying to marry me off to some pushover from Rome, and I'm here to make sure that never happens. I don't want any part in my father's business, or the skeletons in his closet."

@ConstanceAtticus

"But promise me one thing."

@ConstanceAtticus

"If you find it, make it hurt that he lost it." I sneer, and then let her get away from me, stepping back.

@blue_topaz

"I know about the marriage. My father has better spies than you think." I smirk, pushing her off of me. "Why don't you just kill him? I did that to the last one I was supposed to marry. Turns out he was a Montague, an attempted spy. Did you know him? Anyways, part of the loot's a map of all the secret passageways under the city. You could use that to hide."

@ConstanceAtticus

"Your offer is tempting." I think for a moment. "But on one condition."

@blue_topaz

I raise an eyebrow. "And that is?"

@ConstanceAtticus

"If I help you find this thing that Sebastien took, you take my seat at the dinner table when you come back to Verona."

@blue_topaz

Nope, nope, nopety-nopenope. "And why would I do that?", I say coldly.

@ConstanceAtticus

"Because you seem to be so much more of a mafia boss than I am." I roll my eyes, snarling sarcastically. "No, Capulet. I want you to ruin my father's business. And your father's business. I want you to start over, revolutionize Verona's capitol crime. I'm tired of watching our fathers lord over Verona."

@blue_topaz

Nope, nope, nopety—–wait. I raise my eyebrows, considering. "An interesting proposal. Why don't you just do it yourself? Kill your father and make yourself feared?"

@ConstanceAtticus

"I'm not asking you to kill anyone. I'm asking you to end this mortal lion dance between our families, and brind down Italy's overall crime rate while you're at it."

@ConstanceAtticus

"Simple, really." I sigh, running my fingers through my hair. "I don't want to be feared. I am feared. I'm a freaking symbol for the teenager's chained angels, so no. I want to be free."

@blue_topaz

I mull over this slowly, very glad that she didn't know the rest of the reason for my escape. "Hmm… you know what…. sure." I hold a hand up. "But we have to take a blood oath first."

@ConstanceAtticus

"Deal." I crack a half smile. I pull a dagger out of my boot and unsheath it, then hold it out to her.

@blue_topaz

I take hold of it incredulously. "You trust me to do it?"

@ConstanceAtticus

"I told you already, little Capulet. I don't have anything to lose."

@ConstanceAtticus

"We do this the Montague way. Here's my hand." I hold out my palm.

@blue_topaz

"Then don't call me little. We're the same age.", I say, slicing my palm open and doing the same to hers. We grip each others hands for a full ten seconds.

@ConstanceAtticus

I clutch our hands together. "This blood oath signifies my trust in your abilities, Adeleaide Capulet. Let there be no blood lost between us but this. God have mercy on our enemies, because from here on out, we won't." After saying my families oath, I let go of her hand. "There." I tear off a piece of my shirt and wrap it around my cut. "Now break that promise, and I'll break your neck. Got it?"

@blue_topaz

"Understood, accepted, and returned.", I say, taking a bandage from my bag.

@ConstanceAtticus

On the outside, I'm victorious and stone. But on the inside, I'm freaking out. I'd just made a blond bond with a Capulet sister. I knew I hadn't killed, but she had. And she would. She would kill to save herself, she'd kill to keep a blood oath, and she'd kill to die. The point was, I knew she was ruthless. I wasn't. I'd help her dig skeletons up out of my father's closet, and I'd to it to ruin him, but after that I was gone. For fuck's sake I didn't even know exactly where I was.

@blue_topaz

I offer the girl a bandage. "A strip of cloth will attract more attention. Subtlety is key if you want to survive."

@ConstanceAtticus

I smile a crooked smile. "I don't want to survive." I refuse the bandage, and then fix my hair. "So, Adelaide. Where to now?"
