“Who’s the leader and what will they make me do?”

Cicada rolled her eyes, "Just say yes."

"I'm the leader obviously." Duke rolled his eyes. "And you'll have to wait and see it's kinda unpredictable. Mostly steal stuff."

Victoria sighed. “Yeah, fine.”

"And never spill any of the secrets you learn on penalty of death?"

“Duh. You really think I want the upper class brats breathing down my neck?”

Duke laughed. "I suppose not! Well it's official! You're in!"

Cicada smiled, "Welcome to the band of thieves. Now what do we do with the other one?"

Duke glanced at Kelly. "I'll think of something."

“Thanks, I guess. And do I get a say? In her fate or whatever, I mean,” Victoria asked.

"You can state your opinion for sure. Doesn't mean I'll listen to it though."

“Uh, well, I think we should let her live. But, um, we could get a ransom out of her, right? Go to her parents as an individual guy, don’t reveal that you’re part of a gang so that the rest of us don’t get hunted down,” Victoria rushed.

Duke blinked. "That's actually a good idea." He looked at Cicada. "How come we didn't think of that?"

Cicada was still in shock, "I have no idea."

Victoria nodded a few times nervously.

Duke raised his eyebrows. "Welp. We should interrogate her more so we can find out where she lives."

“She’s the mayor’s kid. Is it really that hard?” Victoria asked on impulse.

Duke blinked. "We need to know what level and street and the address."

“Dude. You really don’t know where the mayor lives?” Victoria asked, incredulous.

"Uh no….." He glanced at Timothy. "We don't usually go to that part of town."

“Oh. Well, I can get you there, is my point,” Victoria shrugged.

Timothy glared at Victoria, digging his fingers into the table. I can't believe you Duke. Letting a spy into the gang. Stupid idiots. I can't freaking believe this.

"Okay!" Duke nodded.

“Cool. When do we start?” Victoria asked, looking curiously over at Timothy. Why in the world does he look like that? she wondered, observing his barely-contained anger and dissonant expression.
