"I shouldn't have left them so soon. I should have visited more often. Then I could have at least seen mom and dad before-" Ryan shivered, crawling over to his new bed and lying down on his side. He shut his eyes tightly again, hoping that it would all go away.
(~dream sequence~)
Ryan kissed the top of Naomi's head. "I'll meet you back at my place?" She smiled and nodded, her electric green eyes glimmering. "Of course." She gave him a quick peck before running off. Ryan smiled to himself, smiling as he looked up at the trees above him.
Suddenly, he was transported to a few hours later.
Ryan ran through the forest as fast as he could, his father and Cade trailing behind him. "A fire? How could that happen?" Cade asked as they sprinted down the dirt path. All three of them stopped quickly when seeing the destruction. The house was in ruins. The house that mom had grown up in…burnt to the ground. To their left, Ryan could spot a few figures making their way through a cloud of smoke. "Ma? Allie? Ella?" Cade called as they ran towards their family. "What in the devil's name happened?" Their dad's booming voice asked. All three girls shook their heads. "That's just it. There was no way a fire could have started. All the candles were out, the fireplace was empty, there was nothing."
The quote Naomi later used haunted his mind. "Love? Love is just part of people's imagination. There's nothing there. Love is nothing more than a myth. A legend. A lie." He could still picture her taunting green eyes staring up at him.

Leah opened her eyes, squinting up at Daso tiredly. She tried to shift in the cot to sit up, but even that hurt. "Did Lucian patch you up?" She asked, her brow furrowed in concern.
Death was the only option. Kameo opened his eyes, feeling the thick blood running out from his leg. I'm bleeding to death. I don't mind.
