"Don't lie to me. It's all clear now." Zackary lowered his hand, forgetting about his bleeding nose. "You… you're the one who has been fucking with my goddamn senses the moment you set foot in here!"
"Illusions aren't a skillset I have." Tobias said. He was smart enough to know that Zack wouldn't believe it though.
"It's not Illusions… you're a Spellcaster. The brief pain you felt, I felt it. It had to come from you because you flinched. You're a Magic user."
"I'm a Vessel dumbass." Tobias replied. "And as powerful as I am, I can't ensnare the senses."
"You still fall under Magic. I've never met a Vessel, though." He grinned, blood shining on his lips, which highlighted his sharp, white teeth. "Fascinating."
"Remind me again how it would benefit me to mess with you?" He asked.
Zackary snapped out of his daze, and immediately put a grumpy face back on. "What?"
"Nothing." Tobias said, realizing that he'd snapped out of it. "Wipe your nose." He added.
Zackary wiped his nose. "Still. A Vessel. Can't believe it." He shook his head and sat down again.
"It's not that big a deal." Tobias replied, returning their surroundings back to normal.
"It's a big deal to me. I've always loved researching your kind." Zackary lifted his book back up.
"We're just beings bound to other things." Tobias replied, looking at him softly.
"I know, but it's so odd your Souls can do that. I've been trying to research it but there's never any Vessels around I can question." Zackary looked at Tobias over the book.
"Then feel free to ask." Tobias replied.
Zackary wrinkled his nose and looked around. "No, not here." He sighed and deflated his posture. "Probably not ever, but, you know. There are people around and… can't risk it."
"If you say so." Tobias replied. "What are you researching for?"
Zackary sighed. "Just guys like me. My research would probably go to waste, though, since there's not a lot of…" He shook his head and set the book down on his lap.
