He looked at Charlie for a moment, thinking. "You know," he started, grabbing his bag and shoving the script in there. "If you guys feel like it, we can go get food or something. I've got a van, and it's pretty lame, but it holds a lot of people."
The Paperback Theater
"R-really?" Charlie stammered without the help of her stutter. "That-at sounds like fun, bu-but only if y-you really want to I-i mean…."
"Let's!" Ellie jumped up. "I'm starving."
He smiled at Charlie. "Of course, just tell me where you guys want to go." Asura pulled out his keys from the back pocket of his jeans and pulled his hoodie on over his head. "Anybody else want to come with?"
"Yay!" Charlie whispered happily, mostly under her breath and hid her hands in her sweater pouch.
"I'll come I guess." Cam stated, standing up.
He nodded to her. "Okay, I've got seven seats, so that means we've got three left."
"Lemme come!" Ro grinned.
Allia smiled. "Me too?"
"Alright, let's go," he said, already rushing out the door. "And if you're not in by the time I've got the car started, I'm leaving without you."
Cam shrugged, not really in a rush. He grabbed his backpack and followed Asura out the door.
Charlie quickly followed them outside, slightly scared of being left behind and forgotten at the theatre.
He walked across the parking lot and pointed his keys at the beat up van in the back. It was a dark red, with a huge dent on one of the doors and a lot of the paint scratched off. He had two more cars– ones that people would kill for– but he loved his van.
"It's…" A hunk of junk Cam thought. To be honest, Asura scared him a little, so he kept his mouth shut. "It's cool."
He laughed lightly. "Sure," he said.
He looked the van over. "Are you sure that this thing works?" Cam noticed the dent. What the hell is that from?
"Of course I'm sure. How would I have gotten here if it didn't work?" He reached the car and got into the driver's seat, then looked back at at Cam. "You don't have to go if you're too scared." He smirked.
Cameron scrunched up his nose at him. "No, I'm going." He climbed into the back, not daring to sit in the death seat up front.
Asura shrugged, then turned the key in the ignition. The engine roared to life, shaking the van slightly. The radio blasted a song from the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack, and he reached over to turn it down.
At least he has a good taste in music. Cam began humming along to the soundtrack.
He rolled down the window and leaned out to shout to the others. "Hurry up!" he said. Asura started to roll up the window, but then shouted to them again. "And start thinking of where you want to go to eat!"
Charlie jumped slightly but made sure to buckle herself as she happily sang along softly to the soundtrack.
Allie and do hopped in.
"Alright," Asura said, pulling out of the parking lot. "where are we off to?"
"I dunno, but I'm really craving pizza right now." Cam told Asura, reaching to buckle his seat belt.
He nodded, making a turn toward the old pizza place that he liked to go to. "Pizza it is, then."
"Yay!" Charlie paused, then quietly asked, "Is p-pineapp-ple pizza okay-ay with you guys?" She curled up slightly, prepared for a lash back.
Ellie's face brightened. "I'm offended you had to ask!"
(Sorry for disappearing, I didn't have service yesterday)
Asura's nose wrinkled in disgust. "I mean, yeah, but I'm not sure how you can stand it."
"Sweet and-d savoury go pr-retty well together," Charlie paused and quickly added, "in my opinion at l-least"
