Jameson hurried into the room. “Your Majesties,” he said, bowing. Standing up, he addressed the king: “While you and your family evacuate, I plan to ride down to the village with a team of my best men. We will protect the people there.”

Rose started and turned to face Jameson, blinking a few times in shock. She'd forgotten the prince had been visiting with all the ruckus from the wolves and the dragons.
"Oh, Prince Jameson. Good day," she greeted him awkwardly, running her fingers through her hair.
"Ah, yes. That sounds like an excellent plan," the king agreed.
“Good day, Princess Rose,” James nodded, a flush creeping up his neck. “And thank you, sir. I just pray we can successfully get everyone to safety.”

Rose nodded at Jameson before turning and looking away, attempting to hide the dusting of red that had decided to grace her cheeks. Ugh. She'd probably had a crush on the prince since they were little, and it didn't help that both of their parents assumed that they would one day marry and thereby gain an alliance.
King Broden glanced between the two, a faint smile crossing his lightly-bearded face as he noticed the blushes coating both of the young royals' faces. He cleared his throat to draw their attention.
"Well, Jameson, why don't you sit down and help us for a bit?" he suggested slyly.
