Alyssa handed Riann a scroll. "This definitely isn't from around here. I think it or blown in with the wind, and it has something I think you need to know."

Riann opened the parchment slowly, her hands running over the ink inscribed on the sheet.
To the Golden Triad,
Princes of the Dust Lands,

I know it has been a while since I have last spoken to you, but the time may be right. The king has died in a recent attack in the Northern Beldish lands, his young son, Caspian, the heir to the throne. He used to have a sister, I am sure you have heard of her. Though, the prince is visiting the cities and is scheduled to reach Cardez in a weeks time. I hope to see you there.

Riann re-read the letter, looking over the words. She knew this Senator. She and Felix has been friends with his daughter, Sara Nabima. But, that wasn't important. There was corruption in the monarchy, and another kingdom was helping.

Breeze walked over to Riann, "What's that?"

"A love letter. It's just nonsense." Riann lied, not trusting Breeze yet. She slipped it into the leather satchel on her side and turned towards Alyssa, nodding her head in thanks.

"Really," Breeze became interested, "From who?"

"Leo Castellan." Riann said briskly, coming up with a random name.

Alyssa gave a small snicker, covering her mouth to hide it as she nodded at Riann.

"I thought you and the guard were a thing though?" Breeze asked her.

"There is nothing between us." Riann replied, turning towards Cade. "The rest of you find some supplies for the route. Cade, come with me."

“Doesn’t look like that to me,” Breeze murmered to herself. She returned to examining the sand.

Cade nodded, hoping that Riann would tell him what the scroll said.

"It's a letter from one of the Senators to the kingdom in the Dust Lands. Looks like we might see them in Cardez soon." She said, handing him the letter.

Cade read over the letter before handing it back to her. "Do you think this is a good thing?"

"We have the same motivations. Judging by the final sentence, they're also trying to take the throne." Riann explained as she thought. Could we get some help from the Dust Lands? Maybe we could. . . I'm was the 'forgotten' princess after all.
