"Hey raspberry assnut." she said, fluttering her eyes open. Marya looked at Nimue, groaning. "We're not lovebirds."
"You're sleeping on each other. I have witnessed kisses. I think it's safe to say you are lovebirds," she argued, rolling her eyes.
"I mean, I'm a lovebird, but I think we all knew that already." Cal replied, turning towards Nimue as he chuckled lightly.
"I don't even have wings. How would I be a bird?" Marya wrinkled her nose, confused and inching slightly closer to Cal's side.
//aaaand I must go
Nimue rolled her eyes again and laughed at the pair. "Good luck, you two. Have fun," she said before leaving.
"Bye, Nimue." Cal smiled, waving before she stepped out of the room. He turned back towards Marya, blowing strands of messy hair out of his face. "I would get up, but I think all the nurses would yell at me."
"I would yell at you." Marya took his face in her hands. "Why is it called "Lovebirds"? Why not Lovewolves?"
"I don't know," Cal sighed, pausing to ponder the idea. "Maybe because everyone associates birds with love. Like doves."
"Or free as a bird. Free love? If you love someone set them free? I never understood why people said that. Then again, love was always alien to me. I never cared about it much." Marya pressed a quick kiss to his lips for barely a second. "Until I found myself falling in love with you. Goddamnit, why did you have to be so amazing?"

"I don't know. . . I was just kind of born like that." Cal answered, a soft smile tugging the corners of his lips up. "I had a crush on you ever since we were fourteen."
"You've had a crush on me for four years? I never exactly had a crush on you." Marya drummed her fingers on her thigh. "I just had. . . a feeling. Jealousy when you flirted with another girl. Waking up and my first thought being about you. Trying to make sure you were safe. Thinking about you. A lot."
"Aw, Marya, thought about me. I'm flattered." Cal smiled, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "To be honest, I thought that you hated me most of the time."
"I really did. I thought your flirting was superficial and annoying. And you were always wrong when you thought you were right. Maybe that's what made you appeal to me. My own little raspberry assnut who looked perfect on the outside but was really a raspberry assnut inside." Marya placed a hand on his chest, motioning towards his heart. "I didn't know you would kiss me this much."
Cal chuckled softly at Marya's response, leaning to rest his forehead against hers. "I have to admit that at first I thought you were going to punch me if I kissed you. But, why wouldn't I want to kiss someone I loved?"
"I'm sorry to have let you down. Want me to punch you?" she made her palm a fist, laughter sparking in her eyes.
"I think I'm too fast for you to punch." Cal challenged as he laughed, the blue shade of his eyes lighting up. He laid down next to her, letting the warm sunlight shine onto his face. He would have to stay in the infirmary for a while, but it was better with Marya next to him.
"This is the part where I usually punch you, but you're hurt and I have a rule against hitting my boyfriend when he's hurt." Marya traced circles on the open palm of his hand.
"That's a reasonable rule." Cal answered, looking up at Marya as he rested, a soft smile on his lips. "What's the name of that man. . . Nimue's boyfriend."
Ailith walked into the cute Calya moment and then chose to walk back out. She sat and leaned back against the wall.
"Kirin." Marya caught a flash of Ailith. "Hey, Ailith should be in the infirmary, right?"
"Kirin." Cal repeated, feeling a pang of jealousy, knowing that someone was taking his friend. He can't do that. Cal knew that thought wasn't fair. Hadn't Marya and him, both Nimue's friends, come together and leave her out? Did Nimue feel alone now? Cal furrowed his brow slightly as he thought.
"Yeah, Kirin." Marya slid off of the bed, her bare feet freezing when they hit the ground. "I'm going to check on Ailith, 'kay?"
Cal nodded and leaned against the bed's pillows, as he closed his eyes. He might as well try to get some sleep in.
Ailith closed her eyes as she leaned against the wall. Her wound was starting to hurt again. She looked down and saw blood seeping through the bandages, "Damnit."
