Time Travel, France, and Romance // OxO // Closed

Lou was sure now he had actually stopped time. As his senses heightened, he could no longer hear the clicking of his watch, nor the slightest beeping of the clock by his bed stand.
Louis’ hand rose from its previous position, finding its way to the back of Jay’s head. He noted the hat still resting there and had to keep himself from smiling.

“All depends on what your plan would be for the morning,” Lou whispered. He normally didn’t make his suspicions audible, but he felt it needed to be said. “I’d rather this not be a one night stand.”

“Oh, really?” he asked, his voice ceasing to fluctuate in regard to the question. Lou met eyes with Jay, giving him a small smile. Jay made Lou feel like a little boy again— happy, carefree, but still very nervous about everything.
“We can get you back by then.”

Lou’s heart jumped viciously in his chest as he returned the kiss. He gently pulled back.
“You’re either blind, deaf, or both if you don’t already know my answer.”

Lou sat up, kicking his legs on the stool by his counter. The TV played the news softly, lowest volume possible as to not wake Jay, who may or may not have been still sleeping within his room.
Louis wasn’t focused on the TV whatsoever. Nor Bean, who was sitting happily in his owner’s lap. Nor the coffee he held in his hand.
He was just smiling like a kid, still rocking his feet back and forth. A second cup of coffee sat on his counter, the one he had made for Jay, of course.
Louis glanced out the window, seeing the morning sky still dark. It should have been cold, considering Lou was shirtless and just had sweats, but he had kicked on the heater, giving his apartment a nice, cozy feel.

“Morning,” Lou cooed, his voice raspy. His hair was a mess, the short sides askew and the curly strands falling into his tired eyes. He smiled, holding out Jay’s cup of coffee for him.

“Five,” Lou replied, nodding his head at the digital clock near the TV. He took another sip of his coffee. “But it can be any time you want.”

Lou raised his arm and put it around Jay, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath.
“So…,” he began, his eyes still closed. “How are you feeling about this time-traveling Frenchman?”

“Oh, am I?” Lou said cockily. “Why, thank you.”
He was relieved so much more than he lead on. He just smiled widely, opening his eyes and looking at the TV, flipping through and changing it to a music channel.

“Are you kidding?” Lou said, his voice breaking slightly. “I should be thanking you. I’m the freak here.”
He stoked the puppy in his lap, the terrier yawning in response.

Lou smiled, his eyes softening and resting on Jay’s. His hand flew up to meet the man’s and he pulled it down, holding Jay’s hand instead.
“Thank you,” Lou mumbled, looking down at their hands and squeezing his tighter. “That’s… all I have ever needed to hear.”
He laughed softly, his smile lingering.

“You’re amazing,” he breathed. “How did I manage to land you?”
Lou blushed, smiling. He really felt that. How did he manage to find Jay?
He pet the dog on his lap, remembering the cafe.
I guess you brought us here, huh Bean, Lou thought. Thanks for being cute and making people want to pet you.

Bean yipped softly in his sleep, his ear perking slightly as he woofed. His small paws stretched out and he yawned.
“I do, don’t I?” Lou said in a high-pitched voice, like the kind one would talk to a small child with. Bean’s eyes opened and his tail began to wag furiously.
