Havenwood stirred out of his sleep by gentle smol crying. He got up and lifted him up.
“What’s wrong, little man?” He asked sleepily as he checked Thelisi’s diaper. Deciding he needed to change it, Havenwood did, and poked Elise awake.
“Elise. Elise, Thelisi’s hungry. Wake up!”

Elise jerked awake. "What? Where's Thelisi? Is he alright?" Her nervous eyes jotted around the room.

Havenwood walked into the kitchen and took a slab of meat out of the ice box. He started to chop it up, humming gently.

Elise fed Thelisi, humming more Spice Girls, and laid back down with Thelisi rolling around curiously next to her. She kept him from falling off the bed with a hand.

Havenwood set a pan onto his stove and laid some meat down into it.

Havenwood picked up the smol and sat down next to Elise. “You’ll get back in shape. Birth is hard, I understand. Get some sleep.” He kissed her gently.

"You don't say." She snorted, grinning, and shut her eyes again.

Havenwood helped her lay down. He kissed her lips gently, straightened up, then walked into the kitchen with the gigglingly curious smol.

Elise's dreams were inhabited by violent bursts of plasma from the stars and plagued by thoughts of evil to Thelisi. She slept long, but not well.

Havenwood finished making the food, then went to go wake up Elise. He noticed her fitfulness and shook her. “Elise!”

"I'm okay. I was having a nightmare. About…Thelisi." She returned the gaze, not as steady. The past few days had been both rewarding and harsh.

“How specifically, love?” Havenwood put his hands on hers.

"Things were…hurting him, love. He may be only two days old, but…" She shivered.
