Darius just stood there, confused as always. It seemed Jez had actually thought him and June were a thing, but she usually dated girls anyway, and Darius being gay kinda contradicted itself. Though he totally forgot about how long he had known these people or that then knowing such things was not possible.

June smiled gently at Jasper, glad Gus has decided to give her a chance. “Alright”

Jez shakes his head "I'm not talking to her" he says stubbornly "but uh.." He looks around "mind if I go on a small supply run. There's that broken-down convenience store nearby. It looked like there could be some extra food in there." He says, halfway lying.
He did see the convenience store back that, but that wasn't his plan.
No. He planned to get away from them. He didn't want to get away from Gus. But Jez found this whole idea crazy.
Befriend a screamer and train it to not hurt us? What a load of crap. Jez thought.
Though he wasn't about to let Gus know how he felt. At least not right now.

Jesse carefully steps over the ashy carpet, which was no longer carpet and simply the cement that had lain underneath it.
Her lip curls up in disgust as she passed the test body of a screamer. Its fleshy skin had melted to the floor. Its bones were the only thing that you could make out what it was.
She smiles, kneeling down and poking it with her knife, moving aside any skin.
It flakes off around the dear-like skull. Human eyeballs still in tact thought.
freaky she though as she poked it.

(Okay I'm just gonna share my smol idea. It works in Gus and Jaspers' favor as well. So hear me out.)
(Jez is obviously freaked out and he totally plans on leaving. Like ditching them without a word. Just pack up and go. So I'm thinking maybe while he's out Jesse and Elodie can find Jez. Jesse is obviously going to be a bitch and pry him for information so she could steal his things and take them from his camp. So she'll most likely hold him wherever they're staying. I could have Jez be like "oh I'll show you my "camp" just take me with." And then they could go to the camp and boom. Jesse and Elodie meet everyone else and Jez is back with the group, thus also regretting his idea to leave in the first place lol.)
(Obviously it's not perfect. Literally just thought about it like last night. And wed work out the details but tell me what you guys think lol)

Gus gave Jez a slightly worried look, afraid he wasn't in the right state of mind to be off scavenging by himself in a dangerous part of town. But he clearly needed some space an some time to think. Surely he could take care of himself for an hour or two.
"Alright," he said eventually. "But keep your arm in th' sling this time, y'hear? And take your rifle and fire off a shot if there's trouble." He gave Jez a smile. "This'll be fine, Jez, I promise. I'll see you later, yeah?"

(Hahah yeah Jez would probably tell them. Either that or the girls would be like "Nah we found him all the way over here" and Gus and everyone else would be like "uh wait what? I thought you were just heading to the convenience store? Why were you over there?" Something like that and Jez would have to explain
Sorry if that didn't make sense, I'm so bad at explaining things lol.

Jesse looks back to Elodie "it's cool. Vhy else hvould I touch it?" She says in a small, joking manner.
She stands to face her, wiping the now black-tipped blade on the wall.
"Let's see if any human is here" she suggests, looking up to the ceiling. Since most of this place had concrete floors, everything was decently stable still. But did the girls want to risk it?

Jez nods to his friend, a pit feeling in his gut as he does.
"Yep." He replies "I'm gonna go get one of the bags. Is the rifle still in it?" He asks Gus, walking towards the back door.
He didn't like betraying Gus's trust. But he figured he would get over it. After all, Gus hasn't known him for too long. It's not like he was attached or anything.
That's what Jez thought, even though he was already attached to Gus.
Would he admit that?
Hell no.

"Yeah, th' rifle should be with your other stuff," Gus called. "And some ammo. If you find any more medical stuff or fishin' line while you're out pokin' around, we need that too." He watched Jez walk off, then ducked back inside in search of Jasper, towing Darius with him so he wouldn't wander off.

Jaspers just been sitting on the roof, holding her knees trying to make it come out under her command and then getting upset when it didnt and just returning to just sitting.

When Gus learned from June that Jasper had gone to the roof, he left Darius with her and cautiously climbed the ladder to go find the girl. Maybe she wanted to be alone, but he figured he'd check on her anyway.
Peeking up slowly over the edge of the roof, he saw her sitting a little ways away. "Jasper?" he called. "I just got done talkin' to Jez. You good?"

Jesse let's out a rough cough, her hand going up to cover her mouth as she did.
Smoke and the stench lingering in the air.
Though she had dealt with worse. That's what kept her going in this mess.
"You found anything yet?" She asks Elodie

Jez walks into the building and grabs his things while Gus was away, taking both of his bags and the rifle.
He sat there, looking down at the ammo Gus had given him. His brows furrow and he debates on whether or not to leave.
man. ..this sucks. I wanna take Gus with me…. I know he wouldn't come though. He's too kind.

He sighs, shoving the ammo in the bag and zipping it up to sling over his shoulders.
He packs a few cans in the other bag, the headlight and some waters, leaving the candy bars for Jasper without even thinking about it.
He stands, looking around the room before leaving the front of the building.

she looks up and sees Gus hearing him speak,"…define good…" she mumbled, "Im fine…"

(Lol he's also attached to Jasper whether he realizes it or not. That feeling of being a protective big brother towards Jasper never left. It's just…hidden ^^)

Gus climbed all the way onto the roof and ambled over, sitting a few feet away from Jasper with his long legs hanging over the edge. "If you're wonderin' about Jez, he said he'd be okay with lettin' you stay after all. He was easier to talk around than I thought he'd be. I bet it'll be a while 'fore he wants to be friendly with you again, but this seems like a good start anyhow. I don't think June 'n Darius will be trouble either. " He gave her a smile. "If one of 'em does start complainin', you jus' leave it to me, okay?"

she felt a pit in her stomach at her earlier thoughts, "r-really…? that easily…?" she looked at gus, hoping it to be true but somehow knowing it probably wasn't true. "June is nice…"

"Yeah, June's pretty cool. And I don't think Darius could hurt a fly, t' be honest." He patted her shoulder. "What happened to you ain't your fault, and I reckon we can all see that. We jus' need to learn more about what's goin' on and how t' control it, that's all."

(unless that fly was sitting on drums, thats like the only way he would hurt it…or if he wasnt paying attention and stepped on it)

"yeah.." she flinched slightly when he patted her shoulder and moved away after he was done. "mhm.."

Gus took his hand away. "Sorry. I ain't too good at givin' people space sometimes, but I'll try. Say, did you ever get somethin' to eat after all that? I saw you 'n Jez huntin' fer some food but I dunno if you actually managed t' eat anything."

June and Darius sat in the room waiting for Gus and Jasper to return from the roof.

she shook her head, too used to the hunger that she barely bothered to acknowledge it. "no…"
