(Jez is freaking out right now and I apologize on his behalf)

A flick of empathy shot through his chest before he dismissed it with anger and the burning feeling of betrayal.
"Youre a fucking screamer! You think I'm gonna let that slide? You think you're safe now?" He exclaims, edging farther from her and towards the door leading outside.
His vision was blurry as he yelled at Jasper, his chest hurting along with his head.
how could she have just played with my feelings like that? After all I did for her? I held that thing in my arms….
He shivers at the thought. The feeling of sudden betrayal clouding any and all of his judgment.
I need to see Gus

Gus heard the shouting get louder. He heard Jasper too, and it sounded like she was crying. He whipped around, his heart pounding. "What the hell," he muttered, dashing over to the staff room and yanking the door open. He saw, to his alarm, Jez holding his hatchet and Jasper backed up into a corner, both of them looking very upset.
"Jez?" Gus barked. "What's goin on? What's wrong?"

She hust curled in on herself more holding her hands over her head to protect herself from anything that might come, she was sobbing and finding it hard to breathe as she was trembling I'm the corner.
"i-i-im sorry! I-i'll- I'll do b-better n-next t-time i swear!" She wasn't necessarily talking to Jez, see from all his yelling and all his glares and the hatchet her brain had gone back a while back making her think that she was back with them again and they were banging on her cell bars threatening to beat her.
"p-p-please j-just d-dont h-hurt me!" She let out stumbling over every word that passed her lips.

Jez's head whips to Gus, relieved to see at least one person he could trust.
"She's one of them. A screamer." He states, his firm on the axe tight by his side and his eyes still in a wide glare.
He tried not to.be affected by her words or her actions, sure it was all an act to get him to pity her. And he wasn't about to weaken by that. He was determined to get away as fast as he could if he couldn't kill her.

Gus froze, shock and confusion sweeping across his face. Jasper was a screamer? That made no sense. She looked perfectly human, and perfectly harmless to boot. In fact, at that moment, she looked terrified. It was Jez who was acting like the dangerous one.
"Jez—calm down," he said, holding up his hands. "Jus' calm down, alright? Put th' hatchet away 'fore somebody gets hurt." He could see that this was a delicate situation and did his best to make eye contact with both of them, speaking slow and standing very still. It was like being trapped between two scared horses: all energy had to go into de-escalation or things would spiral out of control real quick.
"I dunno what happened," he continued, "But I need you both t' back off fer a sec. Jasper, you stay put, okay? Jez, step outside, I'll meet you there. Go on."

Jez exhales hard, his eyes darting from Jasper to Gus.
Of course he didn't believe him. Jez did look crazy in this situation. But Jez was too worked up to worry about looking crazy at the moment.
He doesn't drop the hatchet, his grip only tightening.
"I'm not gonna swing unless it comes at us" he says, not even referring to her as a human. More like an animal about to attack.
Jez fully believed she was using this as an act to lure them into some sort of trap.
But how did he let Gus know? How would Gus believe him?
He stays where he is, his eyes on Jasper. He wasn't taking any chances of him stepping outside and Jasper switching up and attacking Gus.
"Not until you come outside. That things dangerous. I'm not leaving you alone with it" he huffs, protective over Gus.

Gus straightened and gave Jez a long, measured look. Then he turned and gave the same to Jasper. Neither of them looked very clear-headed at the moment. He couldn't find out the truth of the matter until they were both out of harm's way—and not posing a danger to anyone, either.
"Jez," he said sternly, but quietly so Jasper couldn't hear. "Get your head in th' game. We've both done this fer years, screamers don't scare us." He clicked his tongue in disapproval. "An' look at that. Your stitches broke. It ain't even been a day, partner."
While he talked, he thought. He dearly hated to leave Jasper alone when she was clearly so upset. But she'd always been more nervous of him, so he wasn't sure he could help anyway. In his opinion, Jez was the more dangerous one at the moment, so in the name of avoiding disaster, he felt he had to listen to some of Jez's demands until he calmed down.
Besides, however crazy it sounded, there was the slight chance he was telling the truth.
"Fine, I'll come with you," he said. "But I wanna know the whole story in detail. An' I want you t' promise you won't do anything to Jasper until we both think it's a good idea."

June heard the yelling and such and saw Gus go to figure it out, but after a few minutes she started to wonder so she got up and poked her head in where they all were, wondering what was going on. After all, yelling usually was not for fun, not in times like this at the least.

Darius was practicing with his knife.

Jasper just trembled and shook in her tiny corner, breathing heavily and gasping desperately for air trying not to hyperventilate, it was a surprise that she hadn't yet. she sniffled holding her knees close to her chest as she tried to make herself as small as she possibly could manage.
"P-p-please.." she sniffled, her voice trembling and filled with pain, "W-w-what d-did i-i d-do wrong…?" she whimpered out.

Jesse slips a nirvana t-shirt over her sports bra, debating whether or not to tuck it into the sweatpants for extra mobility.
She hears the knock on her door and whips her head around, received to only hear Elodie.
She doesnt answer, instead opening the door. "It's alright. I'm done" she says, one of her hands tugging lightly on the t-shirt, not liking the feeling of more clothing on her.

Jez stays where he is, holding the door for Gus, doubting the fact that he would believe him.
Why would he? Look at Jasper. She's a mess on the floor. Nobody would believe Jez.
He panicked a little on the inside, and obviously on the outside.
He looks down to his arm and realized blood seeping through the bandages. But he chose to ignore it.
He looks back up to Gus. "Im not dropping the hatchet but like I said before. I'm not going to do anything until it attacks. Thats it." He says, motioning for them to.go outside already.
"I'm obviously going to tell you everything. Why would i?" He says with a huff

Gus paused in the door, noticing June poking her head in from the opposite direction. "June, back up 'n lock that door behind you, okay? We might have a situation here but don't worry. I'll explain in a sec."
Turning to Jez, he ushered him outside, leaving Jasper to (hopefully) get some peace and quiet while they talked. "Alright Jez, I'm listenin'. How is Jasper a screamer? She looks like a scared little girl t'me."

June rolled her eyes but did as Gus instructed, "can I not go comfort Jasper?" She asked gus.

Gus heard June as he was closing the door. "Uhh…..well, you can try, 'far as I'm concerned, but be careful. Jez says there's somethin' wrong with her 'n I don't know what to believe."

Jas was just sitting and soaking in the horrible experiences and memories that were flooding into her head as she shuddered shook and trembled badly, though the absence had the chance to make her feel better or at least calm her down instead it just made her feel almost worse, ever since she had been with the group she had gotten used to not being alone all the time, and especially in the dark and she hated it now, she could almost hear them talking just outside the door and she sniffled, whimpering out.
"s-someone p-please…-i-i..i-i d-don't want t-to b-be a-alone.." she whispered out, her voice breaking and only coming out softly and quietly. she went back to just burying her face in her knees.

June went into the room and slowly approached Jasper, "hey…you look like you could use a friend"

she looked up as soon as she heard a voice, and you could see the pure fear as she scooted away from June, not saying anything."u-um…" her voice wavered, the tears still slowly coming.

June crouched down and stuck out her hand slowly, "Its alright, I am not going to hurt you, I am here to help you ok?" she whispered.

(The building isn't ash just yet lol. They saved Jasper from the rooftop only a few hours ago)

Jesse grabs the gun and her belt, latching it around her waist and machete in hand, before following her outside. She looks up at the only part of the building they could see from there.
She pats Elodies shoulder before going ahead of her, turning the corner.
"Ve Vill get better look ven closer" She states, tying the bandana up in her dark hair, pushing it out of her face.

Jez steps outside, loosening his grip a little on the hatchet and turns to Gus.
"We came down from the roof and I-we were just sitting there getting something to eat and she just-" he pauses, taking a short breath.
"This tar-like stuff shoots out of her arm towards me. It was like what-whatever the screamers are made of. Other than flesh obviously" he shrugs, getting back to the point.
"This is an act. I'm sure of it. She's-its dangerous. How else would it have survived being on that burning building over night? Unless it planned this. It wanted us to let it into our place." He explains, desperate for Gus to believe him.
He didn't care about June or Darius getting hurt. But he wanted Gus and him to get out of there. He knew Gus wouldn't want to kill Jasper. So leaving was the only other option to Jezariah at this point.

Gus folded his arms uncertainly. A human with screamer tissue under their skin but not fully absorbing them? He'd never seen or heard of such a thing. If Jez was right, then Jasper really could be dangerous. But something wasn't quite adding up.
"Why?" he asked eventually. "If Jasper's out t' get us, why would she wait around? You 'n her were up on th' roof all by yourselves, she coulda killed you easy. What does she gain by makin' friends with us if we're lunch to 'er either way?"

June crouched down and stuck out her hand slowly, "Its alright, I am not going to hurt you, I am here to help you ok?" she whispered.

she shook her head, looking down at her shaking hands. "n-no..i-i d-dont…d-deserve it.." she sniffed, her voice shaking as she clenched her hands hard.

Jez nods quickly "no I see your point. Think about it. She's only been close to me. Maybe she thought-" he pauses, stopping himself from referring to her as human. Already used to it.
"Maybe it thought it could earn my trust and have me as some sort of inside man? Or earn my trust and pick me off first? I don't know." He shrugs "I'm telling you what I saw. An attempt. That's what it was" he says, fully believing so.

June moved and soflty hugged Jasper, "hey, hey, its alright, no one is going to hurt you, you deserve to be comforted…at least in my eyes, after all, you are the first one to welcome me"

she sat the hug for a few seconds before her touch aversion was set off and she pushed her way out of the hug even though she badly wanted to be comforted, "p-please..d-dont.." she whispered softly looking downcast and sniffling and just moving away from the hug.

June let go of her quickly, "ok, but I am here ok." she said softly, not wanting to upset Japser any more, though she still had no idea what was going on.

Darius (being the oblivious fuck he is) walked over to Gus and Jez, not sure what was going on.

her eyes brimmed with tears again, threatening to fall with a ton of force behind it, "I-im…i-im s-sorry.." she whispered to June sniffling and hugging herself. "i-i j-just…m-make t-things w-worse.."
