She caught the water bottle, but not as well as she would like. Then again she's just not good at catching things in general. She drank some of the water, before tossing it back to him. It helped to push away the light headed feeling she had from her arm.
"Yeah, I totally get it. I hope there's at least one in this town, I could use some supplies.'
"This would be a pretty shitty excuse for a town if there were no stores," Travis scoffed, taking a swig from the water bottle before tucking it into his backpack. By now they were walking along the main road, passing gutted buildings and peeling street signs. A small tree had fallen at some point, blocking the way, and Travis clambered over it without slowing down. "Guess I need a new crowbar too. I lost my old one to that screamer just now. It was funny though—dumb thing won't be breaking free for a while." He stopped to wait for Tap, glancing back at her. "So have you always traveled alone like this? Or did you start out with a group?"
Gus closed the door when Jesse left and immediately slid the makeshift bolt across, locking it with a sigh of relief. Then he dusted off his hands and went back over to the others. Evan seemed to be chatting peacefully with Darius, so he crouched down next to Jez for a moment.
"She's gone," he said quietly, eyeing Jez to make sure he was at least stable now. "I saw Jasper run off somewhere so I guess I'd better go find her 'n make sure she's okay. You know where to find food 'n water if y'want it." There was still a certain stiffness between them, but Gus did his best to set aside his feelings until they both had time for a real talk. He didn't hate Jez—he just wanted to make it clear that he felt a bit mistreated.
(stopping here in case Jez wants to reply)
