Peter has been the High King of Wolfheim for 5 years.

Peter's father was a cunning and ruthless ruler to his enemies and a wise and respectable king to his subjects. He commanded respect through his actions and carefully planned out each one.

Peter is referred to as the blind king. He is wise and carries out fair treatment for his people but does not give as much attention to international affairs. Ignoring the tensions between Wolfheim and Shangon simply pretending that since they lost the war that's the end of it. For that matter he does not recognize the possibility of treachery within his own nation.
He believes that he is the High King and that everyone under him is and should be loyal. He is proven wrong when the self proclaimed vampire lord leads an attack on his castle executes his family, high ranking members of his table and tortures him for days.

He torture was being torn apart piece by piece. First his nose, then part of his ear, part of his mouth and his nipples.
He escaped by sneaking into a corpse cart, then he hid in the woods for many months since no-one could recognise him as their king.
Peter being a natural marksman didn't struggle to hunt but he did struggle to survive.
He began searching for his brother Ron in the Lantern Order. His brother might be the only person who would recognise him and they were an order of monster hunters, so they are right now his best hope.
