(unknown last name. she says it’s “gayshit” - yes, she introduces herself as “indica gayshit” - but obviously it isn’t. she doesn’t know what her actual last name is; she was once told it, maybe when she was 4? but did her best to wipe it out of her memory - and eventually, she forgot. she wants no connection to her biological parents)

• indica: used by everyone she knows personally. indigo is her legal name from her parents & it’s on her birth certificate, but ever since she found out how exactly she ended up in the orphanage, out of pure spite against her parents, she decided to entirely rename herself to indica. mainly because it sounds Nice but also because it’s a species of cannabis (aka marijuana) (LMFAO) and she finds it very cool to be named after an illegal drug. (she makes a lot of drug jokes.)


• indie: used by the general public, as well as an occasional nickname by the rest of the holy quartet. indie is her vigilante/superhero name, for a variety of reasons (reasons are in ‘trivia’) - but it also just acts as a general nickname for indica as well! so yeah!

how that works is that in this world, some people are occasionally born with superpowers - they’re like birth defects, in a way. and she just happened to be born with the ability to manipulate emotions. which is Fun

not buff, but she’s pretty well-trained in dangerous activities like scaling buildings and running across rooftops - so she’s pretty agile & athletic. (kind of.)

the lines of her face are generally soft & she honestly gives off huge “smug and probably a juvenile delinquent but still very cool and nice” vibes. usually her smiles are best described as grins or smirks, but occasionally she actually and Genuinely shows a gentle smile. or a :D. that exists too

when she does the :D smile she looks very energetic and childish and it is very sweet :,)

5’3. so she’s pretty short compared to other ppl her age (her school is full of GIANTS). her (taller) friends will NOT stop making fun of her for it

oh yeah and she’s purposefully lied to the media coverage, when she could, that she was actually 5’5. so there’s this entire debate in the public over her real height. one of the #1 searches about her online is “indie hero actual height”

(what pops up is mostly “the teen vigilante has claimed publicly on news coverage that she is 5’5, but there is reasonable speculation that she is realistically around 5’2 - 5’3. height comparisons are constantly circulating on social media....”)

her skin is light and always seems to have some sort of slight blush-tint to it, like mild frostbite; she’s sensitive to cold.

her skin also scratches easily (bane of her existence; this is why she always has so many bandages on). but she manages to keep it clear by.... well, god-knows-how. she couldn’t bother with a skincare routine for the life of her (“too boring n too much Work n shit” she’d probably say)

she impulsively dyes her hair with fricking kool aid at 2am once every 2 weeks or so. she usually just dyes the tips, so they’re basically a diff color every month.

otherwise, the rest of her hair (& it’s also her natural hair color) is like a lighter (but solid) brown. it tends to look like it glows under golden light.

her hair is extremely choppy and messy, due to the fact that she largely also CUTS her hair (with a pair of badly-designed safety scissors that can just barely cut hair) every time she dyes it.

she also doesn’t bother to brush it out in the mornings so it’s usually matted and sticks up in certain places, but she kinda likes the look

oh & if she were to do a hairstyle, she usually takes just a bit of hair from both sides and ties it back into a mini-ponytail (leaving the rest of her hair down).

she prefers to keep the length at about shoulder-length, though occasionally she tries it shorter or longer (usually shorter, since she barely gives it time to grow back lmfao). needless to say, her hair is a mess

• distracted & unorganized: she can never really focus on one thing for too long; her mind constantly wanders and creates new pathways from a single subject. it’s her dom Ne. she’s also really bad at organizing her life lol and if it weren’t for her other friends, she would have No sense of organization or responsibility whatsoever

• those vigilantes are still out there right now, they’re a different troop. she basically fangirls (or fanboys, or whatever the heck her gender is) over them all the time and her biggest dream Ever is to meet them in person


• now, though, she also really likes the thrill. of fighting crime. (and committing it, but that’s a side gig)


• and also it’s just a way to make life more interesting, bc let’s face it: a highschooler’s life is NOT fun otherwise

• when making decisions, she tends to consider her own morals and values, before what actually makes sense/the general values of the group. this can end up in her being rather short-sighted when making large decisions; she doesn’t usually realize the scope of what she’s doing


• but she’ll usually put the greater good first (in serious situations)

• she prefers the term agnostic; she doesn’t necessarily express absolute disbelief in any higher powers, but she doesn’t necessarily believe in any either.

• in terms of earth’s political system (i’m honestly not sure if this takes place on earth - it doesn’t REALLY but it’s very similar; they live in a fictional city), she would definitely lean towards something like moderately liberal.

they have a rather Wholesome dynamic if you will, but a chaotic one. for sure. because they share an apartment, they have to actually like,, go out and earn money??? to sustain themselves?? they’re supposed to take turns paying the electrical bills & washing the dishes and stuff, but every couple months there is ALWAYS a power outage and they start arguing over whose turn it was to handle the bills. it almost always ends up being indica’s fault btw 😭

oh yeah: and they May or May Not have committed tax fraud a couple of times.

indica was a firstborn, from a rather dysfunctional relationship Anyway.

when her (rather young) parents found out she was born with freaky powers that could manipulate their emotions, they disowned her and let her get taken to some orphanage/shelter - and this was at around maybe 1-2 years old or something? she might’ve unconsciously slightly manipulated emotions of those around her when she was an infant, but it was only at 1-2 when her powers really started to show up more. she didn’t necessarily mean to consciously control them; they just occasionally kicked in. her parents weren’t in the best place financially and within their relationship; they were too young for it all. when they got the confirmation that indica was, in fact, able to manipulate emotions, they just straight-up disowned her.

indica doesn’t remember any of her life before she was maybe, like, 3 or 4? so she doesn’t remember any of this happening. but yknow. she’s fully aware that her parents just disowned her because of her powers. so that’s fun /s

oh btw her parents did divorce like almost immediately afterward (indica doesn’t know that, but she really tries not to think about the life she lost anyway). god knows where they are now???

• oh yeah but in everyday situations w the holy quartet, when she accidentally breaks another cup - or kinda sorta shot one of them in the arm with her gumball glock - she uses a bit of her power pettily to make them calmer. that’s the only reason why she hasn’t been defenestrated at least a dozen times in the past few months


• occasionally she’ll really want something from one of them, and she’ll slightly manipulate them to feel remorseful, but what tends to happen is:

• “no. there’s absolutely no way i’m making you a cocaine-shooting gun. that doesn’t even....... HEY STOP MAKING ME FEEL WORSE ABOUT MYSELF”

• this technically wasn’t given to her - it was like a birth defect of sorts? babies in this world are occasionally (but very rarely) born with strange, supernatural powers. however, practically nobody wants that kind of kid in your house - imagine having a kid that could mind-control you? so oftentimes these kids are disowned or sent to orphanages/shelters.


• that’s what happened to indica - her parents disowned her when they realized she was able to manipulate their emotions, and she was sent to an orphanage.

her zodiac sign makes her a gemini! which i would say is very accurate for her.

(i actually wanted to make a character who had a relatively accurate zodiac sign.... i was stuck between aries and gemini though, but she ultimately gave me air-sign-vibes so i went with gemini)

[ early life ]

• her family’s backstory is already in ‘family backstory’, so i’ll just summarize it quickly here (and then there’s more afterwards):


• she was a firstborn in a rather dysfunctional marriage. both her parents were VERY young (like think maybe 25 or something) and neither knew how to handle a kid that could manipulate their emotions.


• so they disowned her (when she was about 1-2 years old) & she ended up being sent to an orphanage/shelter thing, for kids without parental figures.


• there, she met roman, New Character, and apeiro (aka the rest of the (un)holy quartet!) as toddlers and they steadily became friends throughout the 10-ish years they spent there.

[ running away ]

• however, when they were all 12 or 13-ish, they (or more like just a couple of them, while dragging the others along) decided to run away from the orphanage to live on their own. no idea why, it was a whim-decision i suppose. they wanted more freedom & life in the orphanage was BORING as hell. (the orphanage searched the vicinity for the missing 4 kids, but either didn’t care enough to keep looking OR one of the ppl in the quartet had memory-manipulation powers and erased their memories. still deciding)


• also, indica really wanted to become a vigilante/hero ever since she saw a news broadcast about a certain troop of vigilantes fighting crime in the city. (she saw this broadcast when she was about 11) (btw she’s still obsessed with that certain troop today & wants nothing more but to meet them)


• they were able to find jobs and scrape by, getting a tiny & horrible apartment for themselves. and living off of instant noodles.


• they all skipped 8th grade, but one of the more sensible ppl in the quartet decided that it was best they get some proper education. so they talked the others into all attending the nearest high school when they all hit 14/15. (that might’ve been roman but i’m not 100% sure)

[ start to vigilantism ]

• their vigilante careers started when... well thats up for debate, but i’m imagining it like:


• on the news, there was a broadcast of a robbery or explosion or arson or something. yknow, the Usual for city life


• the government/law enforcement just really sucks in this city, so all the citizens were kinda used to vigilantes just showing up and battling it out & fixing the situation. BUT this time, no vigilantes seemed to be showing up to help ???


• (let’s say that one vigilante troop that indica’s a huge fan of was out or something)


• so, upon seeing this opportunity (and dreaming of it for the past few months), indica (and maybe a couple others from the quartet?) naturally got excited.


• she talked the others into going into the scene and stopping the thing, and after a certain bit of pleading, begging, and a Healthy tad of Emotional Manipulation (/lh /hj), the 4 of them - the holy quartet - made their raging debuts.


• they made a huge mess but managed to get the situation under control before the ACTUAL authorities arrived and sorted things out.


• it was such a thrill & it kinda became a habit from then on; oh? something’s going down in that one quarter of the city? well, the (un)holy quartet is there!!!


• which is where we currently are.


• they still have to find a way to keep their identities secret and balance their normal lives as high school students, though, so that’s fun and all

• she always has a pack of gumballs on her - she loves chewing gum & also it’s ammo refuel for her beloved gumball glock

• GUMBALL GLOCK : she owns a handgun that looks like a colorful dart gun, EXCEPT it shoots gumballs. she adores it with all her heart and will constantly use it to threaten your life. (it doesn’t kill.) (if it did the world would be in Big trouble) (more info in the gumball glock item page)

• she has a really crappy iphone 6 that’s cracked and glitchy and old; she got it straight off ebay for like $30. surprisingly it’s holding up.

• her vigilante name is indie because 1) her entire aesthetic is basically indie kid, and 2) it’s kind of symbolic of her independence from her born-ability/superpower, instead using other gadgets and stuff. also its just cool


• meta trivia: i really liked the nickname indie, so i went onto nameberry and was browsing full names for it - and i found someone mention ‘indica’. they said they googled it and it apparently was a species of cannabis, like as in marijuana, the illegal drug, you know the one, AND THAT’S WHEN I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT LMAO. so now yeah! her name is indica. a drug. deal with it bitches /lh
