Very expressive body language. When someone is speaking, he will lean in close to listen, turning and moving his entire body as something catches his attention. He is also prone to many different vocal tics and noses, such as clucking his tongue when in contemplation, humming to himself to fill any silence.

He’s arrogant and likes to play the part of devil’s advocate. If he believes someone isn’t fully defending their position, he’s incapable of not jumping on it to make a point.

Thad is a quick-witted, quick-talking young man with a healthy dose of charisma that he uses to break down barriers and dig into a person’s core. It’s not always a negative trait; though he has a hard time forming close attachments, he also doesn’t gain knowledge with the pure intention to cause harm and destruction. He’s intrinsically curious about the world around him and his impressive people skills come less from a desire to control it then a desire to understand it, which he’s done quite well at.

That said, most of his relationships, romantic or platonic, are superfluous at best, and though he’d never admit it, it does indeed cause a sense of loneliness at times, which he assumes is the natural state of most people though they would never admit it.

One of his foster fathers began to teach him the intricacies of combat, and as he grew he sought out various mentors to continue his education.

Background

Thad is unsure of his Kingdom of origin, let alone his family. By the time he was old enough to remember any sorts of family, he was old enough to know he’d been passed through several, never sure if they were his actual kin or simply adults who took enough pity on the boy to ensure he didn’t outright die. Some families were better than others, more affectionate, more personal, but none of them stuck, and he found his early childhood spent passed around from family to family, tribe to tribe once one disaster or another prevented the family from being able to care for him any longer. Sometimes it was something as simple as a lack of food for one more mouth, sometimes Grimm attacks rendered him the last remaining member of the group. It was par for the course for life in Vacuo, and rarely something the boy felt deprived by.

It wasn't until his tenth year where one of the families finally stuck, emotionally at least. At that point he was living on the streets, old enough that not as many people took pity on him, and old enough he could manage to put food in his own mouth from time to time and survive the harsh desert weather. Often, doing so meant engaging in nefarious deeds, and one blistering afternoon he attempted to pickpocket an decrepit-looking falcon faunus wandering the markets. He was taken off guard when, at the last moment, the old man spun around to grab his wrist, spry as a many 50 years younger, grip like a vice. He was ready for the beating of a lifetime. It wouldn't be his first, nor his last, though as he rose his gaze defiantly to the old bird he found thr man grinning, a playful twinkle in his eye.

He pulled a shining gold coin from his pocket, flipping it around and letting Thad eye the foreign currency enviously. "Heads," he said, "and the coin is yours. Tails, you come back to my hut for lunch."

It was tails.

He begrudgingly followed the old man home, lugging his baskets of fruits and fresh meat, contemplating bolting the entire time. Somehow, though, he was sure the man would snatch him back before he could even tried. They were greeted by an equally elderly woman at the hut, one who greeted him with a bright smile and shoved a bowl full of stew in his hand the second he sat down. They pressured him into staying the night. And the next. And the next after that. Before long, he realized that somehow he'd been adopted again.

He didn't mind. He grew fond of the old falcons, both ex-Huntsman he came to find out from the grand stories of their previous adventures. That'd had never known much about Huntsman before, never would have imagined he might become one himself. But time passed, as it does, and somewhere in the midst of it he came to love them. Somewhere along the line Bedraire Cadmium's training and lessons became his own ambition. The day the old man finally gave way to the pull of time, the call of death, was the day Thad sent off his application to Beacon Academy, determined to prove himself worthy of his chosen family.
