Overview
Cascade Zelkova
Cas
Female
18
Looks
138 lbs
5'3"
Icy Cyan in a malibu melt
Messy, chopped short and long
Pale Sea Green
Human, part bionic
Pale to grayish (over arms)
Petite
"Veins" under the skin of her arms, glows blue to purple depending on conditions.
Nature
Taps anything that’s in her hands to her lips when she’s deep in thought.
Weird obsession with seeing what her bionic arms are capable of, secretly of course.
Tilts her head to the left when trying to understand or solve something.
Constantly correcting her posture.
Has a tendency to mumble, especially when unsure of herself.
Laughs nervously in uncomfortable situations.
Walks way too fast for her size, with a bounce as she rolls from her heel to her toe.
Sits on the edge of her chair, so her feet touch the floor.
Habitually leans against door frames or literally anything instead of standing upright or still.
Will cartwheel at any time.
Cas drives to know everything there is to know about Grimm, and what better way than to become a huntsman? She can experience them in person any time once she’s got her huntsman license. Ultimately, she'd like to become a famous Grimm expert and carry on her parent’s legacy. She wants to make them proud after the accident.
Cas tends to forget other people exist in the presence of Grimm, and gets over-excited when she sees one she hasn’t learned about yet.
She is incredibly self-conscious, however, and worries excessively over what people think of her. Her arms are still new to her, and is subsequently sensitive about them and showing them off.
The absolute worst cook. Cascade can burn water. Do not trust her to make a sandwich. She tries but is wildly inept at this particular endeavor.
Turns anything athletic into a self-inflicted mental competition. She has to win, or train harder.
Shy about her personal life.
Gets anxious when people pry or insist on her taking gifts or doing nice things for her.
Atlas born, Cascade finds Vale overwhelmingly pleasant, if only because she doesn’t have to wear three coats if she wants to go outside. She's had little contact with Faunus, but from her readings, they don't seem bad but has never gone out of her way to interact with one to understand them. As far as she knows, only the White Fang Faunus are bad.
Cascade is overwhelmingly knowledgeable about Grimm, and retains ridiculous amounts of information, both useful and useless. Her critical thinking skills and problem-solving are boosted by her intellect.
She's also notoriously flexible and manages to balance on literally anything.
Cascade has quite a bit of physical stamina when it comes to athletic endeavors. She often can perform feats of athleticism that would cause her peers to run out of breath, while hardly breaking a sweat, thanks to her training and constant antics.
Cascade loves parkour, climb trees, balance herself on anything, and in general just do anything besides walk, unless it's on her hands. If she's not studying, she's practicing gymnastics. She's also begun to dabble in grappling, finding her bionic arms to be an advantage in hand-to-hand combat.
All while listening to an audiobook, lecture, documentary, or scroll cast. She's always looking for information.
Taking exquisite, color-coded notes. Loves to journal and decorate them with stickers, tapes, and fancy pens.
Drawing pictures in those notes of potential ideas for a "Material" weapon.
Once Cas warms up to you, her level-headed demeanor cracks a bit to reveal the quickest wit in all Remnant, from thinking up battle plans to roasting the shit out of the nearest person. Her traveling life with her parents influenced her attentiveness to detail, often noticing things others miss. Cascade can be forceful at times, expressing her opinions on her classmates’ techniques during training or pushing herself or others to do better. She's quite the opposite of girls her age, opting to play a game of grasshopper over shopping at the newest boutique or trying out new perfumes, and always craving the opportunity to break a sweat. This doesn't exempt her fully, however, from adoring small kittens or getting excited about a school dance. As long as she can wear a suit and tie of course
If you asked Cascade, she'd tell you she was ambitious, but her true strengths lie in her reliability.
Social
Takoyaki, but truly anything skewered or other street foods.
Her Grimmoire, a well-loved and her personal encyclopedia on Grimm. And her weapon, of course.
Junior Atlesian Special Operative - Grimm Division
MZTC - Second Year Student
History
May 21
Signal Graduate, all of her parents’ knowledge, a whole room of her home dedicated to a library… Cascade’s mind is as sharp as a Nevermore Quill.
Cascade was born to Cobalt and Iris Zelkova, young parents hardly out of Atlas Academy. With a new child on their hands, the two struggled to choose between their desire to join the Atlesian military or become Huntsmen. The choice was easy when the Special Operatives approached them. They became Grimm Chasers, annotating and documenting various Grimm throughout Atlas to report to the military in order to aid their militant efforts. Not satisfied with only the Grimm in Atlas, the military sent them abroad, and Cas spent her younger years between Vacuo and Mistral. The Zelkovas arrived in Vale only five years ago to spend their allotted four years of study, but only a year into their work, the worst possible scenario occurred. While studying the migration patterns of Goliaths near Mountain Glenn, the Zelkovas managed to fend off a pack of Beowulves and Ursa, but not without casualty.
In the panic, Cascade unlocked her Aura, defending herself by crossing her arms in front of herself as a Beowulf lunged. She succeeded in deflecting it from her head, but it severely overpowered her newfound aura and shattered it instantly, allowing the Beowulf’s jaws to clamp down on her arms. It finally released her after a lengthy amount of thrashing when it fell victim to her mother's gunsword, but her forearms were mangled and broken beyond recovery.
Atlas cut their ties with the Zelkovas quickly after that, settling with the small family in sending technologically advanced bionic limbs for each member of the family; her father lost his left leg from the hip down, her mother lost her left ankle and foot, and Cascade lost both right and left forearms, in exchange for their research and early retirement. But Cobalt and Iris still had an avid Grimm studying child on their hands, and Cascade was eagerly shipped to Signal once she'd managed to wrangle basic function for her arms, in hope she would do more good as a Huntress than a researcher. Her parents settled on Patch and visited her every weekend at Signal. Cascade was asked to attend Beacon shortly after her graduation from Signal and happily accepted.

Semblance: SkyNet - Slows a fall from any height. Applicable to self or those in contact with self.
Father: Cobalt Zelkova

Stats
Average
Below average, without body modifications taken into account; use of bionic arms places her very slightly above average when arm strength is considered
Slightly below-average speed, however, she has maximum flexibility and an uncanny sense of balance
Moderate to high levels, due to semblance and previous training with parents and her time at Signal (Scale of 1-10 lands her around a 7-7.5)
Below average
Average (human and other targets) to above average (Grimm)
Weapon
these hands. Cascade primarily fights with her hands and feet, but will use her semblance to form weapons or use the nearest item.
Cascade Zelkova
Gymnastics - Flipping, twisting, rotating, you name it. Moving her body.
Jiu-jitsu - Grappling and restricting her targets.
Random Item - Have you ever seen Scott Pilgrim?? I kid. Very S3 food fight vibe. Basically hitting the opponent with whatever she's got in her hands or whatever she makes with her semblance. Prefers a grasshopper bat, of course.
Cascade gets up close and personal with her enemies, grappling and twisting and twirling to land blows, restrict movements, and bring them to the ground. She is also very fond of adapting her gymnastic ability into her fighting style, often twirling into a kick or leaping high to bring a smiting elbow upon her foes. Jiu-jitsu meets gymnast. Cascade loves to be upfront and personal in battle, and severely lacks any long-range capabilities beyond what she can accomplish with her semblance. She literally fights with her body and soul. Usually not well versed in random item swinging, just saying.
Raw Hard-Light Dust - Physically extends the use of her semblance-based weaponry.
Semblance
Material Girl
Cascade can materialize her aura into various objects.
Evoker/Utility
Wisp-like smoke, with small dust-like particles sparkling throughout as it forms into the desired object.
As it pulls away from Cascade’s body, it is a vibrant berry color, but gradients into a light white and icy blue as it forms. Once formed, it is similar to opal, with a shimmery bluish white tone reflecting shades of berry and ice. I realized I just described how her semblance color looks, so I'd say her aura is an ice blue.
Self - No one else can handle the items Cascade summons; they literally dissipate if someone else tries to use them, regardless of Dust inclusion.
So many. She can create a gun that will not fire, but she can make ammunition for a gun that can be fired. She can create things from her imagination, but only if she's imagined them before. If it moves or incorporates any sorts of movement, she has to have an intricate understanding of how the parts move in order to operate it. The bigger it is, the more aura it takes. Smaller or more familiar items (like the grasshopper bat) require less aura. The more practiced she is with summoning a certain item, the longer it will remain materialized, otherwise all materialized items are one time use without hard light Dust incorporated to help them retain their existence. She is somewhat trained in the use of her semblance, but her lack of skills with it is the largest hindrance to her abilities.
